Traveling is one of life's greatest gifts, wonderful memories, and unforgettable experiences. To travel is to take a journey into yourself, and we are able to do that when we venture into places that are different from what we are accustomed to. Like Frank Borman (NASA astronaut) has said, "Exploration is the true essence of human spirit."
So any chance you get to go on a little vacation or a new journey to a different country, take it! Sometimes you need to get away from your hometown, experience something new, learn about another culture, and see what the world looks like beyond your circle. Santorini is immediately recognizable by its candy-colored houses carved into cliffs, royal blue waters, and glistening white buildings, topped with tones of blue, like sapphire and ultramarine. The sunsets are mesmerizing and one could never get enough of the beautiful views in Santorini, Greece.
2. Sydney, Australia
Sydney is the biggest and most cultured city in Australia, with the Sydney Harbour as its most prominent icon. The Sydney Opera House is the jewel of the city, hosting more than 2,000 operas, dances, and performances throughout the year. But other than the amazing nightlife and beautifully lit city, Sydney is full of exciting things to do. Bondi Beach is known for its white sand and insane waves perfect for surfing and swimming, The Blue Mountains national park is recognized for its incredible views and landscapes, and The Rocks is a famous flea market that features ornaments, souvenirs, arts and crafts, and much more.
3. Phuket, Thailand
Thailand's largest island is a beach lover's dream! The blue lagoons and apricot sunsets make a vacation in Phuket seem a bit surreal. The most popular activities are water sports, but when you want to take a break from the beautiful beaches, there are plenty of other places to visit such as the aquariums, gardens, and Buddhist temples. The island adventures like Sea Cave Kayaking at Phang Nga Bay and scuba diving in these blue waters are most definitely unforgettable.
4. Barcelona, Spain
As one of the few places I have traveled to, I totally recommend seeing the exquisite city of Barcelona, Spain. The La Sagrada Familia Cathedral is breathtaking as well as the Park Güell, a public park system composed of gardens and architectural elements that are inspired by Gaudi's art. The mosaics pictured below are full of vibrant colors and most definitely bring peace to those visiting. But in addition to visiting some of the most popular sites and hitting the beach, you should wander around the old city, where the narrow alleyways and hidden squares ofBarri Gòtic and El Born are enchanting.
5. Honolulu, Hawaii
Located on the Polynesian Island of Oahu, Honolulu is vacation paradise! The surf is always up at the breathtaking beaches and the weather is always warm. But Honolulu is also the perfect mix of nature, culture, and sports! There's a lot of history to discover at Pearl Harbor and the Bishop Museum, where you can learn about the Polynesian voyagers who came here hundreds of years ago. Honolulu has multiple attractions that focus on culture and history, but what makes this island so special is the beauty of the beaches and waters. Every day of the year is perfect for swimming, sailing, and even paddle boarding on the majestic waters!
6. Bali, Indonesia
Bali is packed with exciting culture, historic sites, museums, outdoor activities, and things to do in general! The cultural tours such as the Bali Water Temples Tour and the Ubud Tanah Lot Tour allow you to see the history and culture of Bali like never before! The Sekpumpul Waterfalls and Sacred Monkey Forest are two experiences that allow you to see the beauty and nature of Bali, Indonesia. 7. Bora Bora, Leeward Islands of French Polynesia
The small island of Bora Bora overflows with beauty! It's also the #1 honeymoon destination! There are plenty of things to do and tons of memories to make! At this small island you can explore the beautiful Coral Gardens and check out the underwater life at the Bora Bora Lagoonroom, hike up Mt Ohue and Mt Pahia (two of the islands most iconic peaks), and of course make a stop at a few beaches to enjoy the crystal blue waters and the breathtaking views. Don't forget to snorkel and feed the sharks along with stingrays at Reef Discovery while on this amazing trip!
8. Marrakesh, Morocco
Marrakesh is a gateway to culture. You'll come to understand that religion permeates the rhythms of daily life when you hear the booming call to prayer echo out from the mosques. Marrakesh is also home to beautiful examples of Islamic architecture like the Ali Ben Youssef Medersa and the Koutoubia Minaret. One of the greatest experiences in this beautiful city is the Djemaa el-Fna, Marrakesh's main square where you're surrounded by street theatre, musicians, comedy acts, acrobats, and even monkeys performing for your entertainment. This main square is most definitely lively, but be aware of pickpockets because there are some people who are known to work the crowd, especially after sunset.
9. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
There's no other place like Rio! It's a perfect combination of beautiful beaches, crystal blue waters, sports, history, nature parks and culture. Some of the most popular experiences in Rio are the Copacabana Beach, MaracanãStadium, Pão de Açúcar, Cristo Redentor, and Floresta de Tijuca. There's no doubt in my mind that I would definitely make a stop at Floresta de Tijuca not only because it's all that's left of the Atlantic Rainforest that once surrounded Rio de Janeiro, but because the tropical jungle preserve is full of beautiful trees, creeks and waterfalls, mountainous terrain and high peaks. But I would also make sure to see a glamorous and rhythmic Samba show before going back home!
10. Kyoto, Japan
Kyoto is Japan's seventh largest city with a population of 1.4 million people, packed with history, culture, and beauty that is undeniable. Kyoto is the perfect glimpse into old Japan. Over the centuries, Kyoto was destroyed by several wars and fires, but because of its historic value, the city was spared from air raids during World War II. This historic city is known for its countless temples, shrines, historic buildings, and traditional Japanese cuisine. And as you can see in the picture below, the nature surrounding the temples is astonishing. But most of all I would not want to miss the Bamboo Grove and Monkey Park!
