Have you ever sat down to study and realized that you need the perfect acoustic mix to focus? Or you're having a big party when you that realize your friend's DJ skills are not up to snuff? Fear not, because Spotify exists. Their (basically) unlimited catalog of every song you've ever loved can help you. Not only does Spotify have countless albums spanning countless genres, they also have tons of playlists for every possible mood. So whatever the day may bring, or whatever mood you may be in, know that Spotify has you covered.

1. Piano Ballads

Spotify has a few good options for a rainy day. But whether it's pouring rain outside or maybe you're just feeling a little foggy yourself, this playlist spans genres with a great mix of slow, lulling songs. Some songs are original, and some are piano covers of popular tunes. This playlist can calm you down or add a nice backing soundtrack to your thunderstorm watching.

2. Beach Vibes

This is the perfect playlist for a day at the beach. The songs are a mix of reggae and fun acoustic songs that basically smell of salt water and sand. The chill atmosphere this playlist creates puts you in the summer mood. It has a variety of familiar songs and new danceable tracks to sway to, making this a great soundtrack for a beach volleyball tournament or a drive up the coast.

3. The Most Beautiful Songs in the World

The title speaks for itself. This playlist is just right for an evening of homework or to just listen to while cooking. The variety of instrumental and creative songs weave a magical journey through sound and production. Each song is a masterpiece in itself, some through lyrics, some through the instruments, and some through the song as a whole. This playlist may not have a bunch of songs you are familiar with, but it will definitely expose you to some great new ones.

4. Ultimate Covers

Everyone loves a classic. What's better than your favorite song? Rediscovering it. Whether it's a pop song reimagined as an acoustic ballad or a slow piano song with a backbeat and rap lyrics, covers are the best way to add some spice to your favorite old songs. This playlist spans genres and combines well-known covers of popular artists by popular artists, to unknown artists performing pop classics in ways you had never imagined them.

5. Breakup Songs

Sometimes the best way to get over a bad breakup is to sing your heart out. This playlist has songs to scream at the top of your lungs, and songs with lyrics that are all too relatable. This playlist has throwbacks like Kelly Clarkson and new songs by Adele and Sam Smith. The variety of music fits any kind of breakup and provides comfort or reassurance or whatever you may be needing in your time post-breakup.

6. Late Night Reading

This playlist is ideal for studying. The instrumental songs create an easy environment to focus in and the calm beats provide a calm and lulling atmosphere. In addition to it being the right music to study to, it has no lyrics to distract you from what you may be studying and no loud noises to startle you or disrupt your learning.

7. Fun Workout

Finding the right work out playlist can be tough, especially when no one wants to work out in the first place. However, this mix combines popular songs and fun beats to make a great soundtrack to your workout. Part of what makes this playlist so great is the countless number of pump-up songs to keep you enjoying your run instead of stressing about how sweaty or tired you are.

8. Epic Throwback Dance Party

Arguably the greatest playlist on Spotify, this list has everything. Nearly 5 hours of throwbacks and nostalgia to boot, this mix will keep the party going all night. Not only that, but the songs will remind you of the first time you heard it, or the good ol' days. Nothing against modern music, but throwbacks are where it's at (especially the kind you can dance to).

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
