12 of the Best Classic Hannah Montana Songs

In case you missed it, on Sunday night after the MTV video music awards, Miley Cyrus dropped a 23-song album...for free. You can find it here. In honor of her gift, I think it is necessary to appreciate Miley for not just who she is now, but for who she will always be; because no matter how much glitter she eats, how many crazy almost-outfits she wears, and how often she twerks, she will never not be Hannah Montana. Before she couldn't stop and before she couldn't be tamed, she had the best of both worlds. Here are twelve of the best songs Miley ever sang as her alter ego/possible true identity Hannah Montana:

1. "Best Of Both Worlds"

This song completely defined the era of Hannah Montana.

2. "This Is The Life"

This song demonstrates Miley Stuart's appreciation for her life as Hannah Montana, and teaches the lesson of living in the moment.

3. "Who Said"

Looking back, this song seems to foreshadow Miley Cyrus' journey into superstardom and her reputation as a crazy, out-there sort of person: "Cause some can talk the talk, this girl just wants to rock; I'm individual, I'm not like anyone; I can be glamorous just like you see in all the magazines; I can be cool as ice, or anything I want to be."

4. "If We Were A Movie"

Miley writes this song for the love of her life, Jake Ryan. I was always absolutely obsessed with this song, particularly the lyric "Fade to black, show the names, play that happy song," which I remember thinking was just so clever. Also, the song first appeared in Season 1, Episode 22: "Good Golly Miss Dolly," in which Dolly Parton guest stars.

5. "Nobody's Perfect"

The song that was my first ever ringtone, and remains my life motto.

6. "Life's What You Make It"

A classic from Season 1, this song is just a great encouraging reminder that you are in charge of your own happiness.

7."We Got The Party"

The Jonas Brothers in their prime sang this song with Hannah in Season 2, Episode 16: "Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas."

8. "I Miss You"

One of the major plot lines in "Hannah Montana" was that Miley Stuart lost her mother at a young age. She sings this song in memory of her, though in actuality, Miley Cyrus really wrote this song for her grandfather.

9. "One In A Million"

If you were an avid Hannah fan, you know that the phrase "one in a million" was a recurring theme, which is what makes this song so special.

10. "Hoedown Throwdown"

Miley Stuart actually sang this song not as Hannah Montana but as herself, but it still makes the list because it was featured in "Hannah Montana: The Movie."

11. "Rock Star"

"Tai chi practicing, snowboard champion, I could fix the flat on your car; I might even be a rock star." The lyrics in this song are just golden.

12. "True Friend"

Miley and Lily get in a huge fight in Season 2, Episode 2: "Cuffs Will Keep Us Together," but when it resolves, Miley sings "True Friend," which remains one of the best songs about friendship to ever exist.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
