To most a mom is a lot of things but to me you can add best friend to that list. She know's the good, the bad and the ugly and still loves me.

1. She is the first one you want to call when something happens.

2. She is never afraid of your response when she is brutally honest.

You hate to admit it but she is always right.

3. You laugh harder with her than anyone else.

4. When you want to get a haircut that is not going to be good, she is there to tell you.

4. She knows your gossip and you know hers.

5. You two are always getting yourselves into trouble.

6. She's always got your back even if you might be in the wrong.

7. She knows when to tell you to get your act together.

8. She is the best person to shop with, partially because if something is a must-get she usually buys it for you.

9. You learned how to be sassy from the best.

10. She knows how to make you feel better even if you are feeling particularly stupid that day.

11. Y'all know way too much about each other.

12. You can talk for hours and never run out of things to say.

13. If you're laughing at a text, most of the time it is from your mom.

14. Growing up, all your friends loved your mom and everyone wants to shop in her closet, not yours.

She has no idea how cool she actually is though.

15. If you have dumb moments you have them together, which makes you love her even more.

16. No one seems to find your jokes quite as funny as she does.

17. She is always there to help you with any predicament you manage to get yourself into.

18. She has no idea you worry about her just as much as she worries about you.

Except I'm the one shamelessly calling her.

19. If she ever travels anywhere you always make sure to check in, and if you haven't heard from her there is something wrong.

20. You can't stand to be upset with each other and every one around knows it is a BIG deal if you are.

21. You know you owe her because of the amount of dumb questions she answers a day.

22. You can basically read each other's minds.

23. She will listen to you obsess about the same thing over and over and never gets sick of hearing it.

24. Y'all are attached at the hip and have been since day one.

25. She thinks you have to learn on your own, but she is there to save the day when you fall smack dab on your face.

27. You wish you could be her because, well, everyone wants to be her.

28. You can't imagine life without her.

30. You think she is the coolest person ever.

31. She will tell you if you're not thinking clearly.

32. She never judges you.

33. She was there for you then...

...and she is still there for you now.

34. To you, your mom is one of the most important people in the whole wide world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
