A Letter To My Best Friend From Home
Leah Swander

Dear best friend(s),

I first want to tell you, and make sure you know, how much I appreciate our friendship and memories we made growing up. You have always and continue to be there for me whenever I need a pick me up, and I will always return the favor.

It was one of the hardest things to say goodbye to someone who I felt understood everything about me. Never judged, although sometimes made fun of, you helped shaped the person I am today. I couldn't be more grateful for you.

I want to let you know that I have made the best of friends in college, and I think you'd love them too. No one will ever replace you, my childhood bestie, but we've changed as we have grown into young adults. We might not be interested in the same things anymore, or even get along sometimes, but I know that deep down, we are still sisters at heart. No matter where life takes us, I promise to always be there to listen, mourn, or celebrate whatever life gives you.

It sucks not talking everyday, or being so involved in one another's lives like it used to be, but know how incredibly proud of you I am. Whether you aced a test, succeeded in a college sport, or made new friends, I love to see how happy your journey has made you. Thank goodness for social media, or else I'm not sure how I'd survive. Scrolling through my newsfeed and seeing your happiness radiate through your new colleagues gives me butterflies. It reminds me of the incredible memories we've made, and sometimes brings tears to my eyes. I miss you more than you know.

I know how cheesy and mushy gushy this letter sounds, but I needed to tell you that you will always be my bestie, for the restie. No one can replace you or the time we laughed for hours because we made a dumb video, that really wasn't all that funny. I'll see you soon enough, and I cannot wait to hear about the new memories you've made. I am so proud of you, and I love you like you're my sister.

Sincerely,

Your OG Bestie

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
