Dear best friend,
We may not have known each other for very many years, but you're still the best friend I could ever have. We met in high school, and though you were younger than me, that didn't matter to me. From the first time we spent time at my house, up until the last time I saw you, we've shared so many memories. From supporting each other through the ups and downs in life to being separated by a couple hundred miles, we've learned so much about each other. I walk into your house when no one is home, take your food, and leave; and for that, we know it is my home too. I text your parents on a regular basis, just checking in and making sure they're okay and enjoying their days. Your little brother is my little brother as well, and that makes us family.
I don't get upset when someone calls you their best friend, or when you do the same; because who cares? You aren't even my best friend anymore. You've reached a much higher point than that. You're my sister; bound together by secrets and memories, and long lasting love. They say "God made us friends because he couldn't handle us as sisters" and boy is that the truth. When we are out in public, people stare because we laugh so hard at nothing. Not many people get our relationship because it's like no other. I truly do act like your older sister; you sometimes ask me for permission to do things, and you look to me for approval when it comes to boyfriends (though that may be more of a motherly characteristic).
We don't have a memorable story about how we met, or how long we've known each other, but the amount of memories and amazing times that we have shared in such a short period of time account for so many years, years beyond what we have known. Not many people can find someone that they can tell everything to; so much that they know more about you than you know about yourself. I've found my person; the one I can tell anything and everything to. Your family is my family, and my family is yours. I hope we stay friends forever. Thanks for being the little sister that I never had.
