It is said that if a friendship lasts for seven years, then it will be forever. I believe that if a friendship could go through the ups and downs of life, then that is a friendship you will keep with you to the end of time. Your best friend has been your sister, often times you two have acted like twins. Your best friend has your back when you're in many sticky situations or vice versa. There's something to say about a friendship that travels through life together.
A friendship can begin at any point in life, but sometimes the friend you make in high school is the friend you take through it all. You make all these memories from ages 14-18 and then you head of to college going your separate ways. You know though that no matter how far you go you'll always remember your crazy nights or the nights you laughed to no end over a thing of Cold Stone ice cream.
1. You have been through it all together.
You have seen the hardest times and you have been by each others side. Even if it's just a text to check in or time in person to be there. You've also seen the greatest accomplishments they have ever done and it makes you proud to call that person your best friend.
2. Your stories from the past continue to make you laugh.
Maybe you bought them into some sticky situations with you or maybe they brought you along for the ride. Your favorite memories are the ones you can't quite reliving together as you make new memories.
3. You can do anything together and it's still fun.
It could be half price apps at Applebees or long days spent at the beach, it's about being together that makes it fun.
4. You don't talk everyday.
You don't talk as often as you used to, but you always pick up where you left off.
5. You're one of the family.
A whole lot of time can pass before you're reunited again, but it's still like you're part of your best friend's family. They know you just as well as their own child and it's really like you should change your last name immediately.
6. There's just no one who gets you like your best friend does.
No one can understand your quirky ways or the reason you are the way you are. Your best friend has been through it with you all and watched you turn into the person you are today. They understand why you say certain things or the way you act. There's no one you'd rather have understand you then your best friend.
See friendship is often defined by time, but it is not defined by distance. Being a friend is even more important when distance is put in between you and at the same time that is when you need each other the most. When you look back on the years and the memories the one thing you'll notice is that as you get older you may change and you may grow into the person you are today. It's true you might be different then the person you were at 18, but your friendship will stay the same with the same jokes and same memories you made years before. I love you Best Friend.
