My Best Friend Was A Sidechick, But She Is Not At Fault

Stop blaming the other woman, start blaming the taken man.

Yes, you read the headline right. My best friend was a side chick and she is not at fault.

But before you freak out about how being with a taken man is her fault, my best friend had no idea her man was already in a relationship. Unfortunately, she dealt with the world's biggest f*ckboy.

This f*ckboy slid into her DMs, and he was dark, tall, and handsome... everything my best friend had been searching for, and right after a messy breakup. I was ecstatic for her because he seemed like the right person for her, everything that she deserved.

However, soon after they began "talking," there were many red flags, including him sending her the wrong girls' names, not contacting her for days, never wanting to take pictures, and blocking her and never unblocking her on Instagram after an argument.

You may be thinking, how did she not realize something was up with him? If you have ever dealt with a f**kboy, you know that they can be the ultimate manipulator and that your excitement over a blossoming new relationship can blind you from seeing the red flags.

After about six months of "talking," but him never making it official, my friend was on her Finsta and her boy showed up in her suggestions. Keep in mind she's still blocked on her main account and then she sees in his bio 4/4/17 and a heart emoji with initials next to it.

She sends him the screenshot and asks him what this means, his literal response was "Yeah, I have a girl. Is that a problem?"

IS. THAT. A. PROBLEM.

Uh, yes, f*ckboy that is a problem. It is a problem that you wasted six months of my best friend's life — a girl who did not deserve this.

It is a problem that you told my best friend you "loved" her, but were in a relationship.

It is a problem you still have a girlfriend of 10 months, who has no idea that you are a cheater.

It is a problem you do not realize it is a problem.

Yes, my best friend was a side chick, and she is not at fault because she had no idea and I know she would never be involved with someone with a girlfriend if she knew.

To all the girls out there who have had to deal with a f*ckboy (or multiple), do not worry there are plenty of nice boys and you will find yours. And to my best friend's f*ckboy, I would expose you and post the screenshots she has (yes, I am that petty), but after careful consideration, I realize that karma will get you in the end.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
