Hey girl, how’s it going? Remember when we first met, it was during orientation week of our freshmen year. We were bonding with other girls on your floor from our dorm building, doing activities like watching movies and playing bingo. We joked together about how the one girl was getting real intense over the game of bingo. Then we all got in for a group picture and you and me were the only two who made funny faces, you definitely thought I was cool since I threw up the peace sign. We exchanged numbers and showed each other our rooms and told each other we would hang out sometime. We went on to tell each other a little about each other like our hometowns and where we went to high school.

We ended up having a class together, and it made us closer since we were constantly studying in the library. We got to know more about each other and hung out a lot. We also met each other’s family as well. For that years Halloween we both dressed as identical cats. Do you remember our Mama Nina’s adventure? What a night, first there was no room besides a little table in the downstairs part that looked like a intimate table for a couple, then we were next to a crazy bachelorette party, and finally when we left we had to walk 10 blocks in the pouring rain with just a tiny umbrella. We got a lot more comfortable around each other and began to joke, complain, and just vent. We got really personal with each other and talked about so many different things that our lives consisted of. Sophomore year came and we decided to be roommates, I had a lot of fun being roomies. Then junior year we decided to be suitemates and you are also my RA this year, which is pretty cool.

We have had so many memories, so many laughs, so many inside jokes. I am so glad I met you that first week of college because I do not know how I would have gotten through these years without you. We tell each other everything and I can always count on you to be there for me. We can just look at each other and know what we are thinking. You are my best friend but are more like my sister. I will always be here for you just know that. Thank you for being the honey to my cinnamon, the Monica to my Rachel, and the Jack to my Rose.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
