21 Top Albums Of 2015

This past year was a good one for music. A lot of artists found their strides while some just continued to bless us with their magic. A few of these albums will be remembered for decades, and we'll be able to look back fondly as old people and say, "Back in my day, Kendrick Lamar released that fire album you now call a classic." Overall, some truly amazing albums found their home in 2015. So, according to sales, charts, and my own personal opinion *drumroll* here are the best albums of 2015 (in no particular order).

1. Drake -- "If You're Reading This It's Too Late"

Released February 13, Drake hit us with the tracks "Energy," "Know Yourself," and "10 bands." It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and broke Spotify's first-week streaming record with over 17.3 million streams in the first three days.

2. Mumford & Sons -- "Wilder Mind"

The single "Believe" was released first while the rest of the album followed it on May 4. The album has a much different sound than their previous music, caused by switching out their usual banjos for electric guitars. They received mixed critical reviews as a result. It topped many different charts including the Billboard 200. Other songs on the album include, "The Wolf," and "Snake Eyes."

3. Big Sean -- "Dark Sky Paradise"

February 24 is when Big Sean, Drake, and Kanye West released their song "Blessings," which has the memorable lyrics, "I'm way up, I feel blessed." Other popular songs on this album include "Paradise," and "I don't F*** With You."

4. Drake -- "What A Time To Be Alive"

Yes, that is correct; Drake killed the game and dropped another album September 25, totaling to over 30 new songs this year. From his two Meek Mill diss tracks, "Charged Up," and "Back to Back," Drake received a lot of positive attention. Then, he whips out another album to surprise us all. The album includes tracks, "Jumpman" and "Bar Rings," while he also released two more singles, "Hotline Bling" and "Right Hand."

5. Adele -- "25"

Of course, the list (and any list ever) would be incomplete without Adele. She dropped the single "Hello," on us October 23, practically causing mass chaos. The song was wildly popular and there were memes made almost immediately saying the lyrics and making jokes about, "Hello, it's me" and "Hello from the other side." "25"was released November 20 and debuted at number one in more than 25 markets. It broke first-week sales records in multiple countries, including the United Kingdom and United States. In the US, the album sold 3.3 million copies in its first week of release. It's safe to say that Adele wins 2015 and that soon she'll be saying hello to us from the other side of her yacht.

6. Death Cab For Cutie -- "Kintsugi"

The American indie rock band released Kintsugi March 31. Their eighth album received mostly positive reviews -- "Black Sun" and "No Room in Frame" being the most popular songs of the album (according to number of Spotify plays). The album received a nomination for Best Rock Album at the 58th Grammy Awards.

7. Kelly Clarkson -- "Piece By Piece"

Released February 27, Kelly debuted her songs, "Heartbeat Song" and "Invincible." This was her third album to top the Billboard 200.

8. Kendrick Lamar -- "To Pimp A Butterfly"

Kendrick released his third studio album on March 15. It is undoubtably one of the best rap albums of the year. It received nominations for Best Rap Album and Album of the Year at the 58th Grammy Awards and widespread acclaim from critics for its "musical scope and social relevance of his lyrics." It also topped Billboard, Pitchfork Media, and Rolling Stone charts for Best Album of 2015. The album includes the tracks, "King Kunta" and "Alright."

9. Sufjan Stevens -- "Carrie & Lowell"

The American musician released his seventh album March 31 and many critics claim it's one of his best. It includes tracks like, "Should've Known Better" and "The Only Thing." OOR named it their Album of The Year, and it ranked number one on Musicneto's The Best 100 Albums of 2015.

10. Justin Bieber -- "Purpose"

With lots of mixed opinions on the Biebs, critics and most common folk can't deny that his music is good, despite the attitude. Purpose debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold 522,000 copies in its first week of release. The album includes the songs, "What Do You Mean?," "Sorry," and "Where Are U Now."

11. Chris Stapleton -- "Traveller"

Released May 5, the country album debuted number two on the Top Country Albums chart and was later named number one on the Billboard 200. The album received nominations for Best Album of the Year and Best Country Album at the 58th Grammys. Popular songs include "Tennessee Whiskey" and "Traveller."

12. One Direction -- "Made In The A.M."

The boy band released their first Zayne-less album November 13. Songs on the album include the singles, "Drag Me Down" and "Perfect." It topped many charts in other countries including the UK.

13. Taylor Swift -- "1989"

Pretty much everywhere you turn, Taylor swift is there, whether on your sister's bedroom wall, on every radio station, in your hometown on tour, or on iTunes with yet another album. I would dare say that she has taken over the world and I'm fearful for what could happen. Soon, she'll probably own Twitter and use her power to force everyone to buy her music until there's no one left. She's worth a fortune and I don't have to name her songs or success, because if you don't already know them, you should consider crawling out of that hole in the ground (or better yet, stay there).

14. Coldplay -- "Head Full Of Dreams"

Released December 4, Head Full of Dreams was number two on the Billboard 200 and number one on Top Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums and Digital Albums. The band's seventh album included the tracks, "Adventure of a Lifetime," "Everglow," and "Hymn For The Weekend."

15. Pentatonix -- "Pentatonix"

The a cappella group's fourth album is their first with predominately original material. It was named number one on the Billboard 200 upon release. It was released on October 16, one year after their Christmas album which topped the charts again in 2015. Songs on their new album include, "Can't Sleep Love," "Na Na Na," and "Misbehavin'."

16. The Weeknd -- "Beauty Behind The Madness"

The Weeknd released their second album on August 28. It includes guest appearances from Labyrinth, Lana Del Rey, and Ed Sheeran. "Can't Feel My Face," "The Hills," "Earned It," and "Often" are singles on the album that were immediately very popular. As of December 2015, the album sold 837,000 copies in the US.

17. Twenty One Pilots -- "Burryface"

The American duo released their fourth album on May 17 and it topped the Billboard 200 upon release. It received generally favorable reviews and includes the tracks "Stressed Out," "Tear in my Heart," and "Ride."

18. Demi Lovato -- "Confident"

The album was released October 16 and reached number two on US Billboard 200. It includes the singles "Cool for the Summer," "Confident," and "Stone Cold."

19. Lana Del Rey -- "Honeymoon"

Lana graced us with her talent again September 18. "High By The Beach" was the leading single followed by "Terrance Loves You" and "Honeymoon." The album ranked number two on Rolling Stone's Best Pop Albums of 2015.

20. Fetty Wap -- "Fetty Wap"

Released September 25, h is album topped the US Billboard 200 and US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album became very popular and a few singles--"Trap Queen," "679," "My Way," and "Again"--made the Top 40.

21. Rae Sremmurd -- "SremmLife"

The hip hop duo released their debut album January 6, most likely not expecting its huge success. At the BET Awards, they were nominated for Best New Artist, and won Best Group. The tracks "No Flex Zone," "No Type," "Come Get Her," "Throw Some Mo," and "This Could Be Us," were all played the radio this year, causing the group to gain even more recognition. For their first album ever, I'd say they did alright.

Along with some pretty amazing film soundtracks and Christmas albums, these were the best releases of the year, give or take. Overall, a pretty good year for music -- if were not comparing it to, like, 1964 that is.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
