With Thanksgiving around the corner and the persistent cold weather, my Christmas spirits are coming alive. Plus, my senioritis is at an all-time high, so I must channel in my efforts somewhere. One of my favorite traditions is watching Christmas movies over Thanksgiving break, so naturally I have a couple of go-tos. No, it is not Christmas yet, but it’s always good to be pre-prepared.
1. Home Alone
I cannot begin to explain how much I adore this movie. This was my inspiration for all the pranks I used to play on my brother as a kid. Frankly, it was just a great source of both holiday cheer and entertainment.
2. The Santa Clause 2: Mrs. Clause
I love this entire series, but the second one was always my favorite. It had all of Tim Allen’s iconic Santa moments and, for me, a more memorable storyline. This is not to discredit the first movie or the third, but I just liked this one the best.
3. Polar Express
As a kid, I would imagine this happening to me. And essentially aspire to be kidnapped in the middle of the night, but of course all in the name of holiday spirit. I had a real knack for putting myself in the place of fictional characters. Some things will never change with time.
4. Once Upon A Christmas
This is probably one the most underrated Christmas movies ever. It has a heartwarming storyline and reminded me of the value and significance of Christmas. It is a time for presents, but also for family and celebrating and just a time to reflect on the year and on decisions. I also just admire how clueless Kathy Ireland was for the first 30 minutes, and how she still managed to stick by a handful of children.
5. ELF
I love this, I love this, I LOVE THIS! It’s also one of the most memorable Christmas movies and emphasizes the real spirit of Christmas. Plus it has a realistic perspective, which is hard to find during the holidays because obviously Christmas means accepting random strangers into your house that claim to have some association with Santa.
