The Best of The 2015 Super Bowl Ads

Snickers

Snickers has been doing a great job these past few years with their celebrity cameos from Joe Pesci to Johnny Manziel. The Super Bowl graced us this year with an appearance from Danny Trejo, playing the role of Marcia Brady. This is followed by the virtuoso we all know and love: Steve Buscemi, playing Jan Brady.

Loctite Glue

Who saw this one coming? When one thinks of Super Bowls ads, one thinks of major companies like Pepsi and Doritos to dominate a list like this one. Here we have a glue stick company coming into the fold with a commercial wacky enough to be mistaken for a promo on Adult Swim. With all that said, Loctite hit it out of the park with this attention-grabbing ad.

Chevrolet

During the first half of the game, many were left surprised by Chevy’s unique, yet subtle ad. While it left viewers in shock momentarily, thinking the signal to the game was lost, the move paid off. This car commercial stood out along with other humorous ads from Kia and Fiat.

Budweiser

Budweiser’s use of animals in their Super Bowl ads have always been hit or miss. This year’s commercial struck the heart strings of all that watched. Who doesn’t like a charming story of the Clydesdales saving a cute puppy from a wolf? The end of this commercial left me wondering: where does the beer come into play here?

Avocados From Mexico

The "First Draft Ever" commercial was quite a memorable ad that while not making much sense, had me laughing all the way through. Who doesn’t want to see a polar bear wearing a sombrero hoping to be drafted by Mexico?

Esurance

All "Breaking Bad" fans smiled from ear to ear once the character Walter White appeared on their screens. While the ad was a bit of a miss on promoting the actual product, an appearance from one of television’s most beloved anti-heroes was a treat for all who watched.

Clash of Clans

An appearance by none other than Liam Neeson himself humored many, proving how much of a badass the movie star can be; whether it’s playing a iPhone game, or grabbing a cup of coffee.

Nationwide

This commercial’s public service announcement was a major buzzkill during the heat of the Super Bowl. Yes, we care about accidents happening to children, but can’t we talk about it later? Needless to say, this ad got its point across in a big way, still making it one of the best ads of the night.

Jurassic World

If you weren’t sure about this sequel having the potential to be a huge upcoming blockbuster, this ad definitely destroyed any doubts. It’s been over 10 years since "Jurassic Park III" was released, and this looks like a solid successor.

Bud Light

Anheuser-Busch hit it out of the park this year with their ads. In one of the most epic games of Pac-Man ever witnessed, I was totally okay with the fact that beer had little to do with the commercial once again.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
