As children, we may have had imaginary friends, or have dozed off in class daydreaming about being just about anywhere else but the classroom. Daydreaming has always been given a bad connotation, for the reason it serves as a distraction from the real world, but why is that necessarily a bad thing? I mean, we all need that escape sometimes. Fantasies can be comprised of one overcoming their fears, of their hopes, dreams, and their plans for the future. Sometimes, one can even fantasize about potential conversations with people. Personally, I find myself fantasizing very frequently, typically when I'm in bed drifting off to sleep.I imagine a life where I am beaming with self-confidence, where I am working my dream job, am radiating with happiness, surrounded by good company, love and basically reaching all the prosperity I only ever aspire to achieve. Not saying that my life right now is terrible exactly, I'm truly grateful for all that I have and all I have the ability to do, but it's normal to picture an alternate reality and a life you imagine for yourself either now or in a few years.

Despite the negative connotation that the act of daydreaming receives, there are many benefits to it. One of the most common benefits is the ability to escape any danger, insecurities, or other inner tribulations you may have. Daydreaming has been proven to be utilized a lot by victims of abuse, in which they are able to escape indefensible situations. Although fantasizing doesn't quite solve the problem first-hand, it gives that person hopes of one day being in a more happier place and state of mind. Fantasies allow me to envision myself in a way that I want and wish to be.

The mind can be a scary place, but it is also the basis of creativity in a person. In the mind, there are no limits, no boundaries, and no rules. We can fantasize and create scenarios in our head that may or may not ever come true, but hey, this act allows us to stimulate our creativity. I've probably constructed a potential movie with all the scenes I've created in my head, to be honest.

Our minds are a safe-space. We have the freedom to think what we want and believe what we choose to believe. Within our minds, we can be the person that has reached goals, which in present-time, may be unattainable. That person may have found their one true love and is in a happy, prospering romantic relationship or that person may have landed their dream job. In your mind, possibilities are limitless and we have the power to fantasize about an alternate universe to the best of our ability.

In a life full of "imagine if's" and "what if's", we can easily discourage ourselves from what seems to be unreachable. However, one can always fantasize about a life where they are mentally and physically comfortable with themselves without obstacles.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
