A while back, a good friend of mine told me that what's mine is mine. I honestly really didn't know what she meant by that at first. It just sounded a little weird and redundant. Of course what is actually mine is actually mine, right? Well, it took a bit of explaining until I actually got it. What she was trying to say is what is meant to be mine eventually will be, and what is not will not.
Believing in Fate
This mindset is really good to take off the stress and worries of something not working out. We could just say that something just simply was not meant to be. The downside to this is that we actually won't give it our all or get back up and try again if it's something we wanted. Now, I am personally a believer in fate, and I do believe that one day everything will pan out the way that it should. But does that mean I shouldn't work hard for it to happen? Does that mean that I shouldn't take things into my own hands and try to make things happen for myself?
The Grey Area
This is the part that I have been struggling with for the past couple of days. Do I leave everything up to fate? Or do I try to take matters into my own hands? One of the things that people like to think that fate has their back on is finding their soul mate. If you say you believe in fate, then do you still look around to see anyone you can start a conversation with? If you believe in fate, do you try every dating site the internet has to offer? A lot of people say they believe in fate but they still expect their lives right now to be perfect. What I have realized is that believing in fate doesn't necessarily mean that you are willing to wait for it. We still try to control things that we cannot. There is still something inside of us believers in fate that make us think that we should still try to take matters into our own hands, and we get upset even though we should know that what's ours is ours.
The Solution?
I think that the best way to look at fate is to be realistic about it. We should still try to do everything we can to work toward our end goal in life; however, we shouldn't get too upset about some things not working out because if we did try our best then it was definitely out of our control. That's when we can say that fate has better things in store for us. We probably shouldn't wait on fate. We should expect fate to play out our lives in the background, but I think we should be the driving force in our own lives. Fate might hand us what we need but probably not on a silver platter. It might set it far away, across a couple of obstacles, but fate still set it there for us. We just have to get it. Believing in fate doesn't mean that we have to wait on it. But should we?
