It's that time of year again. Everyone is becoming involved with politics and many of these people know very little about the actual politics that are occurring.
Facebook, especially, has become a platform of videos, beliefs, and, of course, arguments. Facebook's newsfeed has become infused with Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Now, I'm not saying that it's not important to be aware of what's going on, especially in regards to politics. No, that's not the point. The point is that there are many more things to be worried about than something so futile.
I use the word futile because it's spot on. We the people, as of today, realistically have no say in who gets elected. Money and the establishment essentially control how things go and the point of this article is not to expose that or exploit that.
It is a fact that there are inner problems that people need to deal with before sharing their opinions on how the country should be run. In my personal opinion, many people who post and share their opinions on politics are younger. Why is that? A part of me thinks that it's just a part of life. The young adults entering the real world have the ability to see how life can be. Good or bad, it doesn't matter. However, the older groups become essentially detached towards politics and I think that it has to do with maturation and the realization that there are other things that are more important, like income and supporting a family.
A big philosophy that I follow is: "One must love his or herself before loving anyone else." I have stuck to this because it is a natural truth. Being able to love yourself has become undeniably difficult with the sexualization of everything. People strive to attain a "sexy" image and do horrendous things to their bodies. Nowadays, people lack confidence and confidence is even seen as an irritable trait. Why is that? Why did people lose their ability to think for themselves and start expecting things to just fall into their laps?
A correlation between politics and social media is that people blame candidates and presidents for personal problems. However, I do understand that some people just ended up with the poor end of the stick. I believe that many people blame their failures on these political figures as a self-pity fall-back.
What people don't understand is that failure is essential in regards to progress. Failures and struggles are what create a stronger person. It's living, learning, and experiences. These are all vital in bettering oneself.
So, when I see people share political threads infused with hatred, it really breaks my heart because there is so much more to life than worrying about who our leader is. I say this because no one really needs a leader. We are our own leaders. People lack the will to invest in themselves, but are so willing to make other people rich.
Politics bring out scapegoats as well. Racism, hatred, and bigotry always seem to become evident and real whenever election years arrive. What makes it worse is that in this case, Donald Trump defends and promotes these ideologies in rallies.
What I'm saying is that there are things that we should place a higher priority on. Spread love. Be happy.
