It seems like everyone around me lately is so obsessed with being in a relationship. Now I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with being in a happy and healthy relationship. After all, I love love. Love is great but people often times forget that there are plenty of great things that can come from being single.

1. You don’t have to answer to anyone but yourself, like ever

Where are you going? Wherever I want. Who are you going with? Whoever I want. Why’d you do that? Uhm, because I wanted to.

2. You are in complete control of your happiness

No dealing with anyone’s mood swings or petty arguments.

3. There’s plenty of time to focus on self-care and improving yourself

Discover new passions. Pick up new hobbies. Find out who you are and what you love.

4. You don’t have to shave if you don’t want to

5. You’ll have plenty of time to focus on school or your job without anyone to distract you

6. You can spend your paycheck on whatever you want

No saving for anniversaries or date nights. The only person that you have to spoil is yourself.

7. You can be friends with/talk to whoever you please

8. You can eat whatever you want for breakfast and lunch and dinner

Bagels? Why not? Wanna order Chinese? Sick? How about Mexican? Sounds good!

9. You can take up the entire bed

No one there to hog the covers. No one to keep you up with their snoring or constant tossing and turning. 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep? Sign me up!

10. Alone time can actually be some of the best time. There’s nothing as relaxing as hanging out with yourself

11. You learn to love and cherish your independence

You don’t need a romantic relationship to be fulfilled because you complete yourself just fine.

12. You don’t have to deal with anyone else’s problems but your own

13. You create your own routine and do things on your own time

14. You can flirt with whoever you want

Admit it, flirting can be really fun.

15. You can focus on your overall well-being and regain your health

Spend a few hours at the gym if you want to or take up yoga. Take care of your mental health. There’s nothing nearly as satisfying as a healthy physical and mental transformation.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
