I recently finished my first semester of college, and let me tell you that it was a wild ride.
College is a special place where you live in a dorm and are surrounded by people, all of the time. You share a bathroom with at least 10 other people if you live on a small floor but, more often than not, many more than 10. Because of those living conditions, it is a given that that you are going to get sick. You might get sick the first couple weeks of school and then you think you're free and clear. But you would be wrong. After the stress of dealing with too many papers to count, final projects and finals, you get the month-long winter break. You assume you'll finally be able to catch-up on your favorite shows, read for fun, see old friends, go out and have some fun but, alas, this is all a dream. Now that you aren't stressed about anything, you get sick. That's right, you get home and go to sleep and wake up in the morning coughing up your lungs and feeling like you're gonna pass out. All you want to do is go back to your high school and say hi to your favorite teachers and harass your friends but you are now confined to your bed because you feel like you are dying. Being sick over winter break is the absolute worst because you can't even miss class! You are missing relaxation time because being sick isn't relaxing at all. Your nose is red from all the blowing, your head hurts from all the coughing, and you can't even take a nap because everything hurts too damn much. Sick brain sets in which means you can't read for more than a few minutes without everything turning to mush. Being sick is never fun, but I'd rather be sick at school than sick at home. The only good thing is my mommy made me matzoh ball soup, so there's that. In the end, I'm just a cry-baby.
