If you are short like me, then you know how tough it is. If you are over 5 feet, five inches, then you do not understand. Being short can be the best thing ever and also the worst thing ever. There are ups and downs, literally, to being short. In my case, I am 4'9 and I am the shortest person at my school, I believe I have been short my whole life. But being short is also a blessing, as well as a curse. Why? Here's why.

Being short is a blessing.

It's a blessing because we have an excuse to wear heels and wedges. We can still ride our favorite little kid rides at amusement parks and fairs. We can make other people get items of the higher shelves for us. We can make other people carry us around. We look younger. We can maneuver around in large crowds. We have lots of leg room in cars and in planes. We can fall asleep on the couch without any limbs falling off (Unless it's a very narrow couch, then the whole body is falling off.) When guys kiss us, they can pick us up. We don't have to duck our head when walking. We are amazing at hide and seek. And guys prefer shorter girls.

Being short is also a curse.

We always have to get our jeans hemmed. Most of the time, our feet don't touch the ground when we are sitting in a chair. We have to climb on counters to grab stuff from the higher shelves when no one is around. We can never ride the 'big-kid' rides at amusement parks and fairs. Our leggings always go past our feet and we have to bunch them up. We can't wear maxi dresses. Other people always tease us. Concerts are our worst enemy. People use us as arm rests. We look younger. When we're walking with a crowd and they're walking faster than you and you take a while to catch up because you have short legs. Sometimes we have to stand freely on the subway because there's no where to sit and we can't reach the handlebars on the ceiling. People always say we look cute. Gym class was our worst enemy.

So being short may be horrible. And it may be great too. Embrace your shortness, people! We get to live longer than taller people!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
