When I wrote my first article, I wanted to strictly talk about fashion as an industry. But, today is different. Today, I want to talk about The Black Lives Matter movement and being black in America. I know that all the details of the shooting of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile have been on the news and social media everywhere. I wanted to voice my opinion about this tragedy and all of the other tragedies that happened with police shootings. Everyone in the world needs to take this serious. We all need to actually understand what is going on in our world.

When everyone says Black lives matter, people get upset and say All lives matter. Yes, all do lives matter. But, black lives seems to be the only lives being targeted by police. I'm going to say something, that might upset some people but I have to say it! All of these police shootings are a race. Yes, it is clear that black men are the main target of these shootings. Why are unarmed black men getting killed for no reason? I'll tell you why. These police officers are scared of black men. They believe that all black men are aggressive and angry. Which is not true! These two men who were killed had families. Why are we the only race being targeted? I am so outraged because the world doesn't want to believe what's really going on. What's really going is that black men are being targeted by white cops. It's the truth and we all know it is.

It's not fair, that the entire black community has to be scared for their lives and the lives of their children. I'm scared. You never know what can happen. I can walk outside tomorrow and never see my family again because the police think I'm aggressive and that the music that I listen to makes me this angry and aggressive black woman. The police are supposed to "serve and protect" but, they are killing with no hesitation. The biggest problem is that they are getting away with killing unarmed black men. The only consequence they get is paid-leave. That's it. No conviction, just paid-leave.

We say All lives matter, but they don't. Black lives don't actually matter. If they did matter, the police officers in these shooting should be charged and convicted. But they not! We have to scream "Black lives matter" for people to know that we matter. We shouldn't have to do that. In my opinion, it seems that racism never ended. It's 2016 and racism is still happening and not only between blacks and whites either.

As a young black woman, it hurts that it doesn't matter that I went to college and it doesn't matter what degree I have earned the police will only see me as an angry and aggressive black woman. We all as Americans need to fix what is going on. I know that it's not going to be fixed overnight. But, we all need to help stop these police shooting.

Thank you for reading my article this week! Please keep both of these families in your prayers. Next week I will be talking about fashion and how you can't trust certain companies.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
