5 Signs You're A 20-Year Old Grandma

I am considered a grandma for my age because I'm only 20 years old and go to bed before 10 pm. Of course, most college-aged adults stay up late into the night working on homework... or partying. For me, I like to get up early every day and get the bulk of what I need to get done then. As I've begun to meet new people and explained more in detail how I go about my day, I keep hearing the comment, "Oh my gosh, you're such a grandma." I only laugh because it is very much true, and I love my grandma life. These are some tips on how to live your grandma life to the fullest.

1. You eat the same exact thing every day for breakfast and lunch for months.

You think I'm kidding, and I honestly wish I was, but I'm not. For the past six months, I've eaten the same pre-made caesar salad every day for lunch. Why caesar, you may ask? Well, its delicious and pre-made fresh from the store so it was easy. I'm currently working on eating cinnamon apple oatmeal every morning for breakfast. Honestly, I suggest this for any college student because it makes being on-the-go so much easier.

2. You've adopted a new driving routine.

Go the exact speed limit or five over, never speed. Like ever. Even if the person is riding your butt, just go slower. A.K.A. the exact speed limit. Always use your turn sign, like even in parking garages... Stop at stop signs fully, look left, right, left, right. I know all these things seem simple, but most people don't do these things while driving. I can't guarantee that it's safer, but it's fun to just go slow and enjoy the drive.

3. You know how to knit and sew.

As someone who spent most of their time watching my grandma knit and sew, I've always been interested in trying to learn. Recently, I've really enjoyed sewing and knitting with my grandma. It's a way to unwind from the stress of life and enjoy time with her. Plus, you get to create something with your own hands that you can keep forever.

4. You have an advanced sleep schedule.

Go to bed no later than 10 pm every night, and get your 8-9 hours of sleep. I go to bed around 8:30pm-9pm every night and wake up around 5:30am-6am. Honestly, it's amazing to be able to get things done in the morning and work towards getting the rest done before bed. Sleep is something that most people ignore or just thinking getting the right amount of hours of good R.E.M. sleep isn't necessary, but it very much is. So get your grandma self to bed people!

5. Your clothes aren't in style.

Pants that are too short, I rock this style because I'm pretty tall, and because of its grandma chic! Also, don't be afraid of patches and embroidered designs on everything. Also pearls, overly comfortable shoes, and a purse full of everything. Always be modest but funky, don't be afraid of strange patterns or colors. Giant grandpa sweaters are also encouraged. The thrift store is your place because it's full to the brim with grandma clothes of all sizes.

Living the grandma life is amazing, I'm more rested, productive, and just all around happy. The young college party scene never caught my interest, but the grandma life did. I think everyone should give it a try because you never know you might find yourself loving it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
