On July 6, 2016 children (and adults) all around the world were finally able to achieve their dreams of becoming a Pokémon Master. All these hopes and dreams were finally realized thanks to the release of the new Pokémon Go game. Though the concept of the game is pretty easy and straight forward, it is extremely addictive.
Basically, the game is played exactly like you would have dreamed. No more collecting cards as a means to hunt for your Pokémon, now you have to actually go out into the world and find these Pokémon. They are randomly pieced throughout your surrounding area and you must physically go over to a location (most likely the closest one). Once at your location a Pokémon will appear on top of a camera view of the area and you must catch it with a pokeball. It’s really quite fun. Also you are able to create yourself as the Pokémon trainer you’ve always dreamed you’d be. Isn't that so cool!?!
The only problem with this game is that so many people are playing this game and in some areas (bigger cities like the one I live in) experience full servers and are unable to play. Trust me it’s a little frustrating when you walk all the way to a location and sit there for 15 minutes trying to catch one Pokémon while people look at you strangely. But of course this is really just a small portion of the time you play (as I have personally experienced) and will most likely be worked out as the app is updated with more locations and to help fix bugs.
Overall, I’m exacted to keep playing this game. It bends the imagination I had as a child with the newest technology we have now. Though there are a few problems with the servers, it’s honestly just the growing pains of so many people interested in this game, which is not that big of a problem when you think about it. It just means that there are all sorts of people out there running around trying to fulfill their childhood dreams and I personally think that’s amazing!
