Mom, I know what is right and wrong, and how to eat healthy but still splurge on brownies without guilt because of you.

Because of you, I have seen grace, beauty and selfless kindness given to strangers and family alike, and I have been braver to do the same.

I am not afraid to chase my dreams or to fall down, fail and try again. You have overcome more adversity than I could imagine with unbelievable strength.

Because of you, I know that I can take the world by storm, even with my 5 and a half foot tall height, blonde hair and blue eyes. I know what it is to be a leader, a listener and a compassionate woman full of love because of you.

Dad, I know how a gentleman treats a lady and how to avoid the bad guys because of you. Because of you, I have learned to laugh at my mistakes, faults and quirks instead of beating myself up over them.

Because of you, I have a mean fly-fishing cast and the ability to quote Brian Regan for hours. I have learned that even though I do not want to become a prestigious physician or lawyer, you love me for my love for social work. I am more kind, thoughtful and understanding because of you.

Past relationship, I know how to pick myself up out of heartbreak because of you. I have learned to guard my heart and who to trust with vulnerable emotions. I have realized that I am prone to fall too quickly for someone who I might not know as well as I thought.

Because of you, I have been keener on knowing who someone fully is on the inside, not just how they choose to appear on the outside. I am stronger, more confident and more cautious because of you.

Boy who stole my heart, I am beginning to understand the real meaning of love again because of you. I am no longer afraid to open up my heart and to be my strange, adventurous and thoughtful self.

Because of you, I have learned to take a break and breathe in the world around me instead of running from place and place, hoping I will feel fulfilled eventually. I am falling in love with life again because of you.

I am a stronger, wiser and better person because of all of you.
