There is no bond greater than that of a sister. It is one that is loving, caring, responsive, and knows not the bounds of time. Joining a sorority gives one the opportunity to find this bond in hundreds of sisters. The bond of sorority sisters is the bond that lasts ages. From pledging to graduating, sisterhood is ever present and ever growing. Here on campus, the Gamma Zeta chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha is going great lengths to help sisterhood grow and thrive within the chapter.
Since being selected for the position of Director of Sisterhood, Abby Jenkins has worked hard to provide sisterhood events where all of the girls can come together and be able to be sisters with one another is a fun atmosphere. Abby has only been in her position for roughly a semester and has already planned and hosted multiple stellar events. The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha went on a spring retreat to the Tupelo Buffalo Park and then on to ice skating the night away. An Oscars party where sisters sat around the house TV and filled out prediction cards as well as a Valentine's party were planned.
All of these events focused us all to remember one very important reason why we do this everyday, for our sisters. It is our jobs as sorority members and sisters to go out into the community and do good. To make our sisters proud to be a member of this organization is the reason why we get up every day and go out with the goal to make this world a better place than how we left it.
By focusing on sisterhood, we are not just focusing inward on ourselves, but also outward. By deciding to do well by our sisters, we decide to do well in all aspects of our lives. It is in sisterhood that we all find the importance of respectability for ourselves in order to shine a positive light for our sisters. No, we are not all perfect and no we do not do "sisterhood" perfectly. Sisterhood is a work in progress and it is ever growing. Tensions can run high and problems can arise but at the end of the day we always know that we are sisters and we stand for one another always.
Zeta is doing all that we can to learn and remember the importance of sisterhood. Through movie nights to see Cinderella all the way down to just our simple nights at the house watching "Sex and the City," Zeta has learned that sisterhood is forever and Zeta is forever.
