Be A Pineapple

Be sweet. Be confident. Be a pineapple.

Be A Pineapple

Everywhere I go, I see pineapples lately. They have turned into the summer '17 fad.

What's not to love? They're sweet, sour and make adorable decor. They also represent warmth, friendship and hospitality.

Since this recent fad, there is a quote I have been seeing that really stood out to me:

Be a pineapple; Stand tall, wear a crown and be sweet on the inside.

While it may seem cliché, living by these three things can really change the perspective and opinion you have of yourself – the most important opinion of you there is and the only one that truly matters.

Self-esteem and confidence is something that every single person on this planet desires, and is a critical ingredient of being 100 percent content in your own skin, and in your own life.

Confidence is also the one thing that can make you stand out in a crowded room.

When it comes down to it, confidence can be the deciding factor of whether you get your dream job over Jane Smith or not. It can be the difference between you landing a spot in the school play or it being given to smiley-sue.

Confidence, or being a pineapple, gives you a glow that everyone can see.

So, where do you start? Where in the world do you find confidence?

First:

You tell yourself, "If I was a fruit, I'd be a fine-apple."

Then, you live your life like a pineapple.

Wear A Crown.

Always wear an imaginary crown on your head, and never forget your worth. Stop telling yourself you are not worthy – of anything.

Because guess what? You are.

The only one keeping you from believing you're worthy is yourself.

Wear an invisible crown. Hold yourself accountable. Remind yourself of your worth. Remember that you deserve respect. Do not settle for less.

Stand Tall.

Fake it 'till you make it. Even if you're doubting yourself – walk like you aren't! Stand tall. Walk tall. Think tall.

Walk into every room with your head held high. Do not hide yourself from the world and the countless oppertunities ahead of you.

Walking with your head down, avoiding the people, places and things around you, hurts no one but yourself.

Do not let anyone tear you down. Stand tall no matter what life throws your way. Do not cower in your beliefs or values. Do not back down when things get tough – stand.

Be Sweet On The Inside.

Remain sweet on the inside no matter what; even the sourest pineapples are sweet.

Don't let your new-found confidence take away from the sweetness inside of you. Spread that new-found confidence around like wild fire. Use it to not only uplift yourself, but to uplift others.

How many times have you heard, "It's what's on the inside that matters?"

A sweet soul and confidence should go hand-in-hand. Otherwise, you just become arrogant – and who wants that? The goal is to move forward – not backwards.

Be honest. Be kind. Be genuine. Be loyal. Be sweet.

Be a pineapple.

So, to all the 'pineapples' out there who might be doubting themselves right now, just remember:

– Stay Golden –

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
