If someone would’ve asked me a year ago if I thought I would be in the place that I am in today I would’ve laughed in their face. Most of my teenage life I stuck to myself, always watching my family and friends be so happy in their relationships and secretly envying them for something I didn’t have. I never really understood why I wasn’t lucky enough to have someone by my side and I always thought the way I was being treated was normal. Always third wheeling and offering my friends advice on their boyfriends (even though I had no idea what I was talking about) seemed to be my specialty. One thing I never realized was how amazing life can be once you find the right person.
A couple months ago, I was blessed to finally find someone who made me feel so happy and lucky, who completely changed my life for the better. I was one of those people who doubted a relationship would ever happen for them, someone who thought that no one good enough would ever come their way and I was completely wrong. I have finally found someone who has met my expectations and more, and you will too.
I know for a lot of people it may be hard to imagine someone is out there for them, especially with no one around who you think could fulfill your hopes and dreams of the perfect boyfriend/girlfriend. Everyone would constantly tell me that there was a guy right around the corner and to be patient. Now I finally believe what they were saying was true. There is someone out there for everyone, it just takes time for you to find the right one. With every relationship comes lessons to be learned, so keep moving forward if one does end. It will only lead you closer to the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and will make you realize the qualities you want in your future boyfriend/girlfriend.
I always thought that I didn’t deserve to be treated well and what I had experienced in the past was normal. I’m here to tell you that you deserve to be treated with the utmost respect and feel like you are the most amazing person in the world. If you’re in a relationship that doesn’t impact you in a positive way, then end it. There are plenty of guys out there who would do anything for you and remind you every day of how amazing you are. You have a whole life ahead of you, full of adventures and opportunities, and along with that, someone special will come. It might be a month from now, a year, or a couple of years, but trust me it’s worth the wait. So be patient and remember that there is someone out there for you, they’re just trying to figure out their life like you are.
