I have seen so many college students ignore their professors or stare at their phones during class while their professors are talking and I truly do not understand why people think that's a smart idea. You are legitimately PAYING, and if your college is paid for someone is still paying for you, to attend class so why would you sit there and not listen. Not only is it extremely disrespectful but it's also YOU wasting your own time. At that point why even bother showing up to class.
I get it. I used to be too cool to care and while I was still making the grades and maintaining a high GPA, I wasn't learning anything. I was passing but not only was I not trying as much as I know I could've but I also didn't make valuable connections with professors that I could've learned a thing or two from.
This can be selfish to think of it this way and I bet all of you guys hear this way too often, but professors are valuable assets for your future ESPECIALLY if they teach in the field you wish to pursue. Professors are there to assist you and if you make connections with them and go above and beyond in their classes, they'll remember that and help you out with reference letters and things along those lines in the future.
Professors have a lot to teach you about life too. They're wiser and have already gone through the entire college experience and beyond. They are your go-to people with questions about which classes to take for your program, research topics, etc.
If you want to be disrespectful and rude to your professors then go right ahead but from personal experiences, I can honestly tell you that it makes the class less enjoyable for you as well as doesn't benefit you in any sort of way. That being said, enjoy your classes in college, learn from your professors, ask a lot of questions and be grateful to have the opportunity to learn that a lot of people don't get.
