We are hard on ourselves in many different ways; it is a fact of life. Whether we think that we could be thinner, smarter or overall a better person, we are being hard on ourselves. I have personally struggled for many years thinking that I could be all of those things if i just buckled down and was tougher on myself. I began comparing myself to every other girl that I saw, believing that if I tried harder I could be as thin or as pretty or as put together as these girls I idolized. I allowed it to take over my life and become everything I cared about. It caused me to hurt people I loved, and I continued for many years.
Through these years, there are so many things I have learned, but one really sticks out to me. People need to realize that you cannot allow your mind to tell you that you are not good enough because God created you just the way you are and he does not make mistakes. Accepting how you are or how you look is one of the hardest things that you will ever have to do for yourself, and it will not happen overnight. It will take many months of prayer and courage and positivity. Pray for the courage to be able to accept yourself and learn that you can only do your best and not anyone else's. You are you, and God has made you exactly how he wanted you. Trying so hard to change what God created and not appreciating how He has made you is like telling God that his decisions about you are wrong and not good enough. God does not make mistakes, and he created you exactly how he wanted to create you. You are beautiful and so perfect to him. He loves you so much.
I hope that someday we can all be able to truly accept our differences and appreciate our uniqueness. I hope we can all see ourselves in the eyes of God and in the way that he sees us. He thinks you are beautiful, and that will never change because he loves you more than you will ever know.
What I really wish for is that you would learn to be easier on yourself. You are doing the best that you can, and that is amazing. You are doing great, no matter how you feel about yourself, Christ adores you. You are enough and please do not forget it.
