Nothing feels better than opening up this book that has the days of the week lined up with your color-coded handwriting telling you where and when things are occurring. Sure, it's awful when those pages are filled up with writing and it seems that you will not even have an ounce of free time to even breathe, but at least you know you have your life together and organized. Yes, I am talking about agendas, and every college girl knows how essential they are.
Last year I found myself in a bind. I was too busy freshmen year to even think about buying an agenda, which slowed me down. The "Notes" section of my phone was proving to not be such a reliable source, as one could probably imagine. I knew I needed something to get my life in order, so I proudly ordered myself a Lilly Pulitzer agenda.
I made my decision on this based off of a few things. First, it seemed to be the agenda that everyone worshipped and praised. There was never a bad review for it online and it seemed to be a no-brainer to have if you were in a sorority. Second, it had a multitude of colors that made it anything but boring. It could catch you attention within seconds and make you attractive. Lastly, I knew if I put the money into a REAL agenda and not a cheap one from Target, I would force myself to get my money's use out of it.
Fast forward and it has been a little over a year since I fell in love with that Lilly agenda. It has gotten me through two rounds of finals, recruitment, a summer job, and much more. Now it is time to start fresh and begin a clean slate for my junior year of college with a new agenda, so naturally I would opt for another Lilly Agenda, right? Maybe not...
After browsing the Kate Spade website for hours searching for a new wallet, I have discovered they now sell agendas too. This made me beyond excited because everyone knows that Kate Spade is the epitome of classy and elegant. If I wrote my plans and events in a book with shiny gold polka dots and thick creamy pages, would that make my life and all of it's craziness appear classy, too?
I was getting really happy about this until I started browsing the pictures and reviews for it and realized how boring it was. No color to the pages and very minimal room to even write things down. Maybe my life did not need to have the "classy and elegant" characteristics, but rather the colorful craziness I have become familiar with and learned to love.
You are probably reading this and wondering how it might apply to you. I realize that technically all agendas are the same. They have the year at a glance with spots for you to write down the things you need to plan or remember. Being a college girl in a sorority can be stressful with your life revolving around school, your sisters, and any other organization you may be a part of. I believe that you need to invest in something that is of good quality to help keep yourself organized. Whether it is the "boring" Kate Spade agenda that you could add a splash of color to with colorful pens, or the Lilly Pulitzer agenda that wakes you up in the morning from the sight of its bright colors, you will be sure to make the best decision you can about how YOU want to organize YOUR life.
Needless to say, I have opted for a jumbo Lilly Pulitzer agenda this year to give me the extra room and fun I need to help plan out a year of success for myself.
