There are few places that I spend as much time in as I do in Barnes & Noble. For me, Barnes & Noble has always been more of a safe space to wander around in than a place to strictly buy books. I always enjoy getting something at the cafe and sitting down with a brand new book, observing others around me in the cafe, some are having serious conversations, others working, and others are falling in love. As I browse through the aisles I encounter people sprawled out deep in their book, lost in the adventure, which always swells my heart and reminds me of why I fell in love with reading in the first place.
Barnes & Noble's existence is being threatened by corporate giants such as Amazon and if Barnes & Noble does go under, there would no longer be a major bookstore chain in America. There would be no place to take your children to the kids' section and watch them fall in love with reading, there would be no place for authors to host events and sign books, and there would be no more cafe to spend your afternoon.
There are many good things that have been taken away from us - don't let Barnes & Noble be one of them. To help save Barnes & Noble there are a few things you could do.
1. Raise awareness.
Read about it and share your knowledge!
2. Need a book? Physically go to B&N.
We Heart It
Next time you need a book instead of going for the easiest option and ordering it online, go to B&N and make a day out of it! There are always coupons available on their website to get a lower price.
3. Use B&N as a meeting place.
Most Barnes & Nobles have a homey atmosphere with a cafe that is welcoming, comfortable, and always smelling so good. It is the perfect place to meet up and catch up with a friend!
