Being home from college is fun and all until you hear the same questions and comments from people you know. As much as you want to be nice and polite, you also want to mute them to make them stop. You don't even know how to answer their questions or how to react to the comments they just had to say. It's almost more stressful than being away for college.

Let's review the most common questions and comments we get, shall we?

1. "How's college?"

This question is just as overwhelming as college has been. I really don't know how to answer this.

2. "How was your semester?"

I mean, there were times I contemplated about dropping out, but I'll just keep that thought to myself.

3. "How were your classes?"

They turned me into this cold, emotionless person, I'll tell you that.

4. "You should be studying harder!"

WHAT DO YOU THINK I'VE BEEN DOING THOUGH?

5. "What are your plans?"

No, no. This is not a very good question because how does one even answer that?

6. "Maybe you should consider going into something else."

Oh, trust me. I even considered becoming a stripper or finding a sugar daddy.

7. "Are you dating anyone right now?"

Does mentally dating someone count?

8. "It's not a good idea to be in a relationship while in college."

Says the person who met their spouse in college, but that's none of my business.

9. "Who was that certain person in your picture?"

Who doesn't love posting a picture with the opposite gender and your family making a big fuss about it?

10. "You must be partying a lot!"

The only parties I've gone to lately is the pity parties I throw for myself at the library.

11. "These are the best years of your life, so enjoy them while they last."

Y'all said the same thing about high school too.

12. "You shouldn't be that stressed with school and everything else."

Please never ever say that to any college kid.

13. "Where have you been spending your money?"

Let's not talk about that. What's done is done.

14. "You need to learn how to save money."

I promise I am trying, but college keeps throwing expenses at me!

15. "When are you coming home?"

Sometimes I never want to come home because of all these questions I get asked when I'm here.

How painful, am I right? But, it's unavoidable. It will happen no matter what when we're home and see people we know. Unfortunately, we have yet to find a solution to make them stop attacking us with the endless inquiries and statements. Until then, we're going to have to suffer and just deal with it. Good luck to all of us! We'll somehow survive (somehow is the keyword).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
