Some of the finest eateries you can find are in none other than the ATL area. I go to Kennesaw State University, which is roughly a 30-minute drive (without traffic) from Atlanta. If I’m not busy with my school schedule, I am always up for exploring the city with my friends to find places to eat. When moving to a new place, it may not be easy when trying to find your go-to food spots. This is why you have to be up for venturing out of your comfort zone to try new foods; I mean, it is food after all. Even if you may not enjoy the experience at least you know not to go there again. Atlanta isn’t the only area I tend to go towards. A couple surrounding cities such as Decatur, Marietta, Buckhead and even Kennesaw all offer hidden food treasures.
Specifically in Atlanta, Ponce City Market is made up with a variety of food places. My personal favorite is a place called Botiwalla, and they serve Indian street foods. Krog Street Market is something similar to Ponce City, and also offers various eating options. Some other places that are very popular are The Vortex, The Flying Biscuit Café, and I’m sure there are so many other undiscovered eateries. Jeni’s Ice Cream has the most different kinds of ice creams flavors, from lavender to pear rieseling. Brunch is probably the best meal of the day, right? Le Petit Marche is one of my favorite quaint, go-to brunch spots that is located in Decatur, GA. The atmosphere is the best part of this place because it’s like you are walking into and dining in an “at home” environment. I personally recommend The Californian Panini.
Marietta Square is a place that my friends and I love to go to. Not only does it offer a variety of restaurants, there are also dessert places as well. While it may be hard to choose a favorite, I would have to say that Hemingway’s Bar and Grill, Tiny Bubbles Tea Bar, and Shillings On The Square are the tastiest. Like I said earlier, I am a college student and us college students love pizza. Fellini’s Pizza and Antico Pizza Napoletana are the best pizza places I have been to in Atlanta thus far. Guston’s Grille, Capers, and Frozen Cow Creamery are my hot spots in Kennesaw. If you want to go to a chill place that serves delicious bar food, definitely hit up Guston’s Grille. The dirty bird sandwich is the greatest of all time (GOAT).
Capers is more of a date night kind of restaurant, but I promise you it is totally worth it. Frozen Cow Creamery is an ice cream parlor where they add any kind of ingredient you can think of to cream, and then wait for it — they freeze it with liquid nitrogen right before your eyes.
I hope that you “ATLiens” and surrounding Atlanta natives have either heard of these places or are currently adding these hot spots to your lists. I recommend all of these spots, a ten out of ten!
