ABC Thursday nights are always full of colorful, romantic and edge-of-your-seat TV shows. Over the years, audiences have fallen in love with "Grey’s Anatomy," "Scandal," and the new hit, "How To Get Away With Murder." These favorites don’t come back until the end of September, but make sure to indulge in ABC’s Thursday nights, this summer. Meet up with friends and hover around the TV; you won’t be disappointed.
The ever-popular show, "Mistresses" continues with their third season. If you are a fan of "Sex and the City," "Mistresses" is a similar, updated version. A group of California girlfriends goes through the challenges of life, together, with lots of drama and eye-candy mixed in.
The show you really should keep your eyes on this summer is "The Astronaut Wives Club." It takes you back in time, and into the living rooms of America’s most glamorous wives.

They drove flashy cars, had beautiful women, and risked their lives to advance the space program. "The Astronaut Wives Club" puts a new twist on this, with the women front and center. The women are deemed the first ladies of space.
A LIFE magazine journalist, who makes sure to portray the women as ideal housewives, mothers and American citizens, is assigned to share the story of their new celebrity lives. Their clothes, hair, children and attitude must always reflect the ideal housewife, but sometimes this is easier said than done. “She had to appear calm and composed while her husband was strapped atop what was essentially the world’s largest stick of dynamite, seconds away from being blasted into space.”

The wives stand by their husbands every step of the way. They patiently watch their men get catapulted into space on a small, black and white TV, not knowing if they will ever return. Then, they have to face camera crews outside their doors, and must stay calm and collected with fear running through their bones.
The women support each other though tears, tragedies, celebrations, and historic milestones. They are very strong women, and women we should all admire for their strength and courage.

The show is based around the real Mercury missions, which became the beginning of the American space race. The first American men to make it into space and orbit occurred during this time period.
"The Astronaut Wives Club" follows the original astronauts: Scott Carpenter, Gordo Cooper, John Glenn, Gus Grissom, Wally Schirra, Alan Shepard, and Deke Slayton through the ups and downs of early American space progression. The TV show is also historically accurate with fashion, food, cars and home decor. If you are a fan of the early '60s, and all things Jackie Kennedy, you will absolutely love this show. "The Astronaut Wives Club" is also a New York Times bestselling book by author, Lily Koppel.
"The Astronaut Wives Club" airs every Thursday at 8/7c on ABC. It truly is the hit of the summer!
