I have been a huge fan of the band LANY for a couple years now but with their new self-titled album dropping a few months ago, I think it’s finally about time I praise them a bit.
LANY is an alternative pop band based out of Los Angeles that creates music with a unique, dreamy sound. The band got their start in 2014 and had their first major hit single, ILYSB, in 2016. Since then, they have consistently been dropping singles, EPs, and finally this summer, they released their first full album.
Throughout their vast selection of songs you can find music to jam out to and songs that will hit you in the feels; regardless, the songs always have that signature chill, euphoric vibe.
The band has a very particular aesthetic about their songs, album artwork, and visual media that is innovative and pleasing, making it impossible to compare them to any other musician.
The backbeats are catchy, but the lyrics are what really stand out. Each song tells a story, which is refreshing when compared to the repetitive lyrics of most current pop songs.
LANY’s “stories” told in their songs are also super relatable and there is pretty much always a song that you can relate to for a situation you’re in.
Anytime I get in my car, LANY is my go-to album to listen to. LANY is also what I have deemed the perfect album to study to. The songs are mellow enough where it won’t break your focus, but also upbeat enough to make sure you don’t fall asleep.
Every song they have produced melts my heart but my favorites and the ones I highly recommend checking out are Pancakes, Hericane, WHERE THE HELL ARE MY FRIEND, and Bad, Bad, Bad. Not to mention LANY has some pretty amazing covers and acoustics.
LANY has toured with a few alternative pop names that have absolutely blown up and I think they are going to have their blow really soon as well, so check them out now!
