"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I am most certain that you have heard, seen and/or read of the wrongful brutal police execution of Alton B. Sterling, a 37 year old African-American male, killed by police officers in Baton Rouge, La. Sterling was selling CDs in front of a convenience store early Tuesday morning. He was tasered and pinned down by two police officers, who the police say were responding to a call. He was shot, multiple times, six, Sterling was shot six times, in the chest and back. It is a bitter reality that we as Americans still face a tragedy such as this.
For those of you who have not seen the two videos circulating of Sterling's death, I have attached the link of one video below. (This video is beyond harsh and gruesome)

Philando Castile, a 32 year old African-American male, dies after an being shot by an officer "multiple times", four, four times Wednesday night in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, and her daughter were in the car with Castile at the time of the shooting. Reynolds began recording live on Facebook after the brutal shooting.
The officer apparently pulled Castile over for a broken tail light. Below is the picture of Castile's car just a few hours after the shooting Wednesday evening....
Reynolds says police asked Castile, who was driving, for his license and registration. Castile was reaching for his wallet, he informed officers that he had a firearm in his possession, and a conceal-and-carry permit. He went to reach for his license and registration and the officer opened fire on Castile. Castile passed away late Wednesday evening at Hennepin County Medical Center.
For those of you who have not seen the video made by Diamond Reynolds I attached the link of the video below. (This video is beyond emotional and heart breaking)

Of course we as Americans can pray for the Sterling and Castile family at this point in time, but this, this is an unneeded tragedy that a family should not have to face.
The main thing that I can only fathom to think about and process at this point is when? When will we stop seeing these wrongful deaths bestowed upon the African-American community? How many wrongful deaths must we witness as Americans? When is enough going to be enough? How many times is it going to take for a mother to answer a terrifying phone call that her child has been killed? What happened to liberty and justice for all?
The systematic problem, is that I, as African-American male at the age of 21, must wrongfully submit to police brutality or face the fact that I may lose my life. The systematic problem is that I as African-American male still to this day have to face racism, from a system that was built upon my fathers, grandfathers, fathers back! Is my brother or my father next? Am I next? The systematic problem is that there is no system. The system that is designed to protect American citizens is only willing to protect those within the system.
The time for justice, the time for freedom and the time for equality is always right now.
