Everybody has dealt with rejection in their own way, so it's not uncommon for this type of article to be written. Hopefully, I can show you a new expression of this feeling.
I built our love up like a building.
It grew like a plant, but it started wilting.
We felt united like this nation,
But it fell down because I forgot to build the foundation.
Your words were like a wrecking ball.
My heart was the load bearing wall.
When you spoke, my heart collapsed.
The building crumpled into a heap of ash.
I had spent many hours in my mind,
Planning each and every design.
I focused on every intricate detail.
There would be nothing we wouldn't prevail.
I thought I loved you, but you couldn't see
The way that I cared for the intricacies.
I put all my heart into showing my love,
But it all went over your head like a dove.
I guess this building was not meant to be,
But the pain doesn't leave so easily.
What could have come from that wonderful structure?
Could it have been inspiration if it hadn't ruptured?
It makes no difference to dwell on the past,
For the building to come will be better than the last.
But still, when a building crumbles under stress,
No matter what, there will still be a mess.
