Apex Legends Guides: Top 8 Traits of a Teammate

When playing Apex Legends, it can be difficult to build chemistry with those you meet in random matchmaking scenarios. Not to mention that your pals you play with might not be up to scratch with the rest of the players in the community. Sure, it's not all about winning but it sure is fun. So why not give yourself the best chance of being the last players standing.

As part of our Apex best guides, we have put together some recommendations on what to look for in a teammate when playing Apex Legends. It's a list of tips and tricks that will allow you to build chemistry with your team, plan accordingly, communicate effectively and create tactics to win much more consistently. Take a look.

1. Friendship or Likability

To get any good together and perform optimally as a team in any walk of life there has to be time dedicated to improving. This time could, therefore, be the best part of your day with a friend or someone you genuinely like. However, if the opposite is true, you'll soon be logging off early, and the search for that new partner begins all over again.

2. Availability

This is key. What use is a teammate if they're only available to play for 20 minutes here or there. Worse, what if they're only free on weekends or whenever you have school or work. Obviously, this won't be optimal, and the scheduling alone will suck any joy out of the few games you do get together. The dream teammate is someone who lives in the same time zone as you and has a pretty similar work/life balance. They're out there, trust us.

3. Kill Conscious

If your teammate is always stealing your kills or worse, the glory kills in the final moments of the game. Get them out of your lobby as quickly as possible. Nobody wants that and they need to learn the hard way. Your teammate should be setting you up and helping improve you K/D not farming up their own off the back of your hard work.

4. Good internet connection

A teammate is someone who is right with you in the thick of it, someone who you know has your back when you're about to hit a risky maneuver. What happens if they just suddenly disconnect? Leaving you for dead with no cover? This is why your teammate has to have a decent to a good internet connection with a low ping to ensure these heart-breaking losses don't occur. Also, nobody wants to sit there waiting for their teammate to stop rubber banding about the map.

5. Ability

This one should be quite obvious, but the ideal teammate has to be someone who at least matches your own ability, or better yet, surpasses you. This way you will either improve together or you will get to learn from them, see how they move in certain areas of the map or the cycles they work in. A teammate who is far worse than you, or even at 'noob' level is really not a good addition to your squad. Imagine having to explain the control scheme for the 5th time in less than an hour and you'll understand.

6. Mic quality

Once again, fairly obvious, but the perfect teammate will always have a decent quality mic and hopefully a good gaming headset attached to it. This way they will not only communicate with you effectively but also hear the game properly, reducing deaths from behind. There's nothing worse than having someone on your team with a pair of Apple earphones as their mic, especially if they do that awful beeping noise every minute.

7. Character choice

One thing that is essential within Apex and other similar games is character choice, especially when playing as a team. There is no point playing as a team of three Caustics or Bloodhounds. It's important to have a variety of different skills and abilities in your locker to give you the best chance of success. So try and match up with players that specialize in characters besides your own to get the best results.

8. Concentration

A great teammate is someone who maintains a high level of concentration throughout the game, someone who isn't distracted by stuff going on around them in their place. There's no point in that teammate who is always eating their dinner in the middle of the game. Leaving you to cover them while they pull something out of the oven.

So that's our list on the most important traits of an Apex teammate. What are the most valued assets you look for in a teammate? Are there any on this list that you find essential? What's your favorite character combination to load out with as a team? Pause for a second and give it a thought. But remember, while your aim is to improve in the game further, don't forget to help others and have fun!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
