Anyone But Trump 2k16

We cannot allow our country to resort to hate and violence.

This election season has had all sorts of crazy things said on both sides of the aisle, but one man in particular has a certain je ne sais quoi for saying outlandish and often very offensive things.

Yes we all know who I’m talking about here, and I will admit there’s a part of me who cannot wait until the next time a certain moldy garbage can opens his mouth, simply so I can first be disgusted and then proceed to laugh at how incredibly stupid he is.

The one and only Donald J. Trump. For some strange reason he has a sort of cult following, and no this isn’t like a film or book cult following, this is more torches, pitchforks, and the hooded robes that shouldn’t be worn after Labor Day.

But despite all of this the man still doesn’t slow down and is becoming more and more terrifying every single day, with more and more followers and more and more hate around every corner.

Just the other day I saw a video of someone jumping the gate at a Trump rally in order to get to the microphone. The Trump supporters in the crowd were simply not having it. I will admit that in that moment yes, that would have been scary and yes acting in a surprised manner is expected. But instead of surprise and shock, the supporters acted out in pure hate and violence.

As soon as the man was apprehended, the crowd started throwing out curses and threats. One of the things that made me sick to my stomach was the chanting that he should be killed right there, right in that moment. Without even thinking the people who support Trump were asking, begging for a public execution right in the midst of the rally.

That, right there, is why we cannot allow Trump to become the next president of the United States. All the crazy things about what he wants to reform would most likely never happen anyway. The Great Wall of Mexico? Never gonna happen. The banning of all 1.6 BILLION people of Islam from entering the U.S.? That’s just an idiotic thing to say.

But the hate, the hate that runs through the veins of him, and all of his supporters, that is something very real and extremely terrifying. Do we really want the United States, the supposed center of peace and security in the world to fall into nothing but hate and violence? We cannot allow him to get this position or not only the U.S., but the entire global community will resort to hate to solve all of their problems.

That is why it is so important that regardless of whether your specific candidate doesn’t get the nomination on either party, you need to go out and vote. Vote in the primaries. If your candidate makes it, fantastic, keep supporting them and vote for them in the election.

However, say you support a Mr. Bernie Sanders but he ends up not getting the party nomination, it is imperative that you get over it and go vote for Hillary Clinton. Regardless of what you think of her, you must admit that anyone would be better than that stain on the human race.

So please, this election season, go out and vote #AnyoneButTrump2k16.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
