The New Year has begun, which means there is an entire new year of film ahead! January already enticed us with new and exciting titles, but there are many movies in the horizon that are definitely worth watching.
"Hail, Caesar!" (February 5)
Joel and Ethan Coen are known to be some of the most visionary and eccentric filmmakers around. These four time Oscar winning filmmakers are at it again with this new 1950s comedy "Hail, Caesar!" This movie is based on the life of Eddie Mannix, a studio executive who is known for covering up many scandals during his Hollywood career. This lighthearted film is made up of many famous faces like George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill and many others. Make sure to check it out!
"Race" (February 19)
Many people have heard of famous athlete Jesse Owens, but how many people actually know his story? This film takes the viewer onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics and tells the story of how Jesse Owens rose up to be one of the greatest track and field stars in history.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (March 25)
Warner Bros. and many fans around the world have been anticipating this movie for years. The time has come for Superman and Batman to come together and share the screen. But will this new formed friendship work out? It is a story that you will definitely have to watch in order to find out!
"The Jungle Book" (April 15)
After the success of blockbuster films like "Cinderella" and "Maleficent," the trend of Disney remakes continues! Except this time the movie coming out of the Disney vault is "The Jungle Book." This Disney classic is being remade to retell the story of Mowgli, an orphan boy raised in the jungle.
"Captain America: Civil War" (May 6)
The 13th installment in Marvel’s “cinematic universe” is finally here. After the long awaited continuation to "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," we are finally going to get some answers. However, this movie is not going to be as expected; the "Civil War" is said to feature Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. What will happen when these two dreamboats clash? You’ll have watch it to find out!
"Snowden" (May 13)
Does the name Edward Snowden ring a bell? You know, the man who made headlines in 2013 for leaking top secret information about the National Security Agency’s (NSA) surveillance activities. American film director Oliver Stone is going to be in charge of telling his story. It is definitely a “must see” film!
"Finding Dory" (June 17)
"Finding Nemo" holds a huge crown as one of Pixar’s most beloved animations. Many have demanded a sequel for years - now they have got it with "Finding Dory," a sequel that centers on Dory! This film is going to be a hit for kids as well as adults everywhere. If you still aren’t convinced, Ellen DeGeneres is voicing Dory once again!
"The Legend of Tarzan" (July 1)
"The Legend of Tarzan" is one that many people have heard of. The story is definitely a classic in Disney films. However, Warner Bros. is coming out with a similar tale except with a twist. In this story, we will be introduced to a world where Tarzan leaves Africa behind, though he is forced to come back. Will he be accepted? Why did he leave? What happened to Jane? Or are there bigger problems that he must worry about?
"Star Trek Beyond" (July 22)
The story of Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock continues in the threequel to the Trek franchise! Many of the old characters are returning and many new ones are being introduced; join them as they delve into new adventures in this 50th anniversary reboot!
" Suicide Squad" (August 5)
The DC Comics does not stop! After "Batman v Superman," they are going to be entering the world of villains! With Jared Leto playing the infamous Joker, this is going to be a “must-see” film! There are many other names attached to the making of this movie. Just to name a few: Will Smith, Cara Delevigne, Viola Davis, etc.
"The Girl on the Train" (October 7)
Based on one of the top New York Times' bestselling novels of 2015, this movie is said to be one to remember. It has even been rumored to be this years Gone Girl! With the director that brought us "The Help," this thriller is going to be set in the chilly New York streets as the tale of Rachel Watson unfolds.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" (November 18)
Did you love Harry Potter? Where you devastated when the eight part series came to an end? Well, you can get excited all over again as this new franchise hits theaters! This movie is also based on one of J.K. Rowling’s books; it is even rumored to become a three part series in itself. Eddie Redmayne plays the main character, Newt Scamander. Watch as a new wizarding world unfolds, except this time it is going to be in America!
"Moana" (November 23)
Can you believe it has been four years since Disney added a new Disney princess? Well, the wait is over, Moana is said to be the next fairy tale musical that will debut the new Polynesian princess! This fairy tale will take us on a journey of self discovery as we doing Moana on her journey! Definitely keep an eye out for this one!
