Whether you're the oldest in the family, the baby, or the "forgotten" middle child, we all share the same love and dedication to one another. Perhaps you have years apart or mere months, everyone goes through the same phases and shares similar memories with their siblings. Siblings are what made our childhoods so impactful, important, and cherishable.
As the youngest, I want to thank my older siblings for putting up with my crazy shenanigans. No matter what. Some say the third child was born to entertain, at least that's what my mom always said. It seemed to fit because I'll never forget shamelessly serenading my entire family throughout every dinner. I could always count on my sister rolling her eyes and my brother just shaking his head. But they never told me to quit. Not seriously at least. To a certain extent, I know they enjoyed it. So thank you for never finding me annoying, or at least never saying it to my face.
Also being the baby, thank you for plowing the way with mom and dad. Luckily by the third kid, they had the hang of it and I had it pretty easy with grades and discipline. Thanks for helping them find their way and letting me cruise by.
I'd like to thank my siblings for always understanding the moments our parents wanted to make us tear our hair out. Looking back, they always meant well but we didn't see it that way at the time of course, we were full of angst. So thank you for always letting me knock on your door to vent about "why does mom need my room to be clean, I'm fine with it the way it is, they don't have to look at it if they don't like it." That rant was all too familiar with me growing up, and honestly things don't change.
Without siblings, I don't know how I would have stayed sane.
I want to thank my sister for never neglecting to give me advice about boys. Sure she went through her hardships with dating and maybe she thinks it was all for nothing, but if it didn't teach her, it taught me. She probably wouldn't know it, but she taught me to be the best person I could be no matter what others thought. She taught me about hard work and I couldn't be prouder to call her my sister. Sisters really are best friends for life. I can't imagine not having her to model myself after.
My brother I want to thank for always listening to my rants, because God knows I have enough of those. Thanks for always laughing with me, teaching me how to drive, and never letting me down with your advice. I feel closer with you than I ever hoped to be. You've become not just a brother, but a best friend.
You guys don't know it and I probably don't say it nearly enough but you two are my foundation. Without you two, I don't know who I would be and I really don't think I want to.
Like mom and dad always said, I could never wait to play with you guys, all I'd want to do is play alongside you. Thanks for letting me finally be cool with you guys and teaching me the ropes to all of your "reindeer games" as mom would say. I don't know what I would have done without you both.
We may be apart now and we'll never live under the same roof again (probably a good thing though, let's be honest) but I'll never forget the moves we went through, the vacations to Disney, Italy and everywhere in between; the summer days playing in that huge yard in New Hampshire, the Christmases in Connecticut, and the memories from all of those years we got to have. I'm so thankful for them. I'll never forget them.
I love you guys. To the moon and back.
