After graduating high school, I made the decision to attend school out of state, leaving my best friend back home. I’ve witnessed a few people lose their best friends while away from home as a result of “change.” I am so thankful to have a friend that understands. If you’re reading this, I wasn’t too sure of how to say what I wanted, but I gave it a try. So here’s to YOU, my best friend.
Dear Best friend,
He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.” Acts 1:7
God’s timing is always right. He knew what he was doing when he placed you in my life, in the fourth grade. We are often blindsided by common distractions. In our case, we were often caught up in the flow of a school day, and minor drama. It wasn’t until after graduating from middle school that He made it clear to me that you were supposed to be in my life. We went our separate routes but always managed to keep in touch.
Thank you for keeping in touch. From our initial separation post-middle school until now. I know this isn’t the biggest change, but we’ve made it this far. Going into college, I was afraid of losing my closest friends. Thank you for understanding when I say “I’ll call you back,” and not returning it until days later. Yes, I have new friends, but you will never be replaced. That’s almost impossible. I appreciate you for being patient with me when I’m being stubborn. You don’t understand how great it feels to have a friend far away that understands that I am growing, and that mistakes are OK.
I miss you so much and I cannot wait to get home. There is no one else I'd rather roam the city with or even sit in silence with when there is nothing to do.
I promise your efforts aren’t going unnoticed. I wish you were able to view yourself they way I view you. You are an amazing friend. You’re beautiful, intelligent, and annoying all at once but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. With that being said, I promise to always have your back no matter the reason or the season. Thank you JESUS for giving me a sister. I love you,
Love,
Keishonnia
