The city you can never get enough of.

When I decided to go to a college in Ohio, the threatening assumption that I would turn into an Ohio State fan became a legitimate concern. Growing up in Ann Arbor—the heart of Michigan football—and being raised by two alumni who are pretty much diehard fans, this was pretty much unacceptable. Lucky for me, I have some allies down in the southland who appreciate my loyalty to Ann Arbor. But it’s more than just football that draws our hearts back to the city time and time again. Ann Arbor, the hipster, college-town spirit of Michigan has charm that locals and visitors alike just can’t seem to ever get enough of. What makes it so special? Well, as a native, I’ll admit I’m pretty biased, but I think most people can agree that Ann Arbor is so special because it’s got a little bit of everything. From delicious delis to a nationally top ranked university to the most beautiful expanse of forestry you’ve ever seen in the midst of a city, Ann Arbor has it all.

1. Zingerman's

With unbelievably great service where culinary students from all over the country come to be trained, you’ve got to check it out. The unique branch-style restaurant offers a quick bite at their deli, a heavier meal at their roadhouse location, and some amazing baked goodies at their creamery hotspot. And I haven’t even mentioned the food yet. It seamlessly reflects the vibrant culture Ann Arbor has come to be known for and has turned visitors into regulars many a time.

2. Comet Coffee

Located in the irresistibly cute Nickels Arcade tunnel-way, this hip java house has perfectly priced coffee that doesn’t sacrifice budget or taste! Not to mention their personalized stamped cups that can’t get much more picture-perfect.

3. Frita Batidos

If you’re in the mood to hit up a trendy, delicious burger joint, this is your place. Be ready for some out of this world Cuban food.

4. Lab Coffee

Another popular place right downtown that has some of the most eccentrically pleasing coffee you’ve ever tasted. Ever heard of lavender honey coffee before? How about a sea salt latte? Beats basic brands like Starbucks any day.

5. Encore Records

If you’re a nerd who digs listening to the best hits in the best way (aka on a record player) look up this place. It’s got the best finds for records from the glory days all the way up to tunes that come loaded on T-Swizzle’s new 1989 album.

6. The Arb

Hands down the best place to admire the fall leaves changing colors, explore across several nature paths, and dip your toes into some great Michigan-made river water. Many students find peace here during their busy schedules to squeeze a quick jog into their day, or even organize some serious Quidditch matches; I’m not kidding.

7. The Big House

It’s the biggest stadium in the U.S. and the second largest in the world. Bleeding maize ’n blue every football Saturday, can you see why we get so hyped up about Michigan football?? Sorry OSU fans, but I don’t think we’ll ever be swayed.

8. Law Quad

One of the best places on campus to just walk by and appreciate the architecture. In addition to the amazing architecture, it’s also a big hit for senior pics and the library looks like Hogwarts, no joke.

If you love Ann Arbor as much as me, I’m so happy you’ve experienced all of the amazing gems the cute little city has to offer. If you’ve never been, take advantage of these hotspots! And don’t forget, there’s many more where that came from.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
