11 Reasons We Love Oklahoma State

There are so many reasons to love Oklahoma State and here are just a few.

11 Reasons We Love Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State University is the easiest college campus to fall in love with. Whether it's the well manicured campus or the welcoming people who first greet you, every experience with OSU is a good one. There are so many things to love about OSU. but here is a short list that sums up why Oklahoma State really is the best university around.

1. The people

There is one thing that is undeniable about OSU and it’s how friendly everyone is. They make you feel at home because they treat you like family.

2. The scenery

OSU has one of the most beautiful campuses of any college. And while we are biased, there just isn’t anything prettier than the neatly trimmed flowers, seas of green grass, and the uniform buildings. And not only that, we also have the world's largest student union!

3. The town

Stillwater is the perfect college town. It’s just the right size, but more importantly, the town bleeds orange and black. OSU flags are flown at almost any place you go and stickers on the cars. Not to mention it’s right between the two major cities of Oklahoma.

4. The sports

There is a buzz through the whole town the night before any game. From football to basketball to baseball and all the sports in-between, everyone loves games day. Especially when you’re football team is 8-0!

5. The Joe’s

If there is one thing that everyone knows about Stillwater, it’s that we have Eskimo Joe’s. Far and wide, people know Eskimo Joe’s. For decades, Joe’s has been a pinnacle point of the town.

6. The community

There is no community more close knit than the Cowboy family. I’ve never seen a community come together like the homecoming weekend after such a tragedy struck during what was supposed to be a happy time. The love and strength seen in the whole town was something you won’t find anywhere else.

7. The alumni

You may graduate, but you never leave OSU. Alumni are such a big part of the school between supporting the athletics teams or helping expand the campus by donating. Alumni hold a special place at OSU. Not to mention all the famous names that have come from Oklahoma State.

8. The academics

OSU offers a major in just about anything you could want and there is an amazing department behind it. Engineering is what everyone immediately thinks of, but OSU has so much to offer in the academics. Including a sports media major that is only offered at one other university!

9. The homecoming

We at OSU pride ourselves in having America’s Biggest Homecoming. The decks are something that you have to see to believe. The homecoming parade is also a special part of the celebrations for the game. And through such a terrible tragedy, we remain loyal and true to our orange and black.

10. Pistol Pete

If there is one thing OSU loves as much as the school itself, it’s Pistol Pete. The icon for the school that everyone recognizes. We all have him on t-shirts, coffee mugs, car decals, and so much more.

11. The activities

There are so many things to get involved with on campus whether it’s a club, student council, intramurals, Greek life, or all the fun events that get put on throughout the semesters, there is always something to do on campus. And you can never go wrong with what you do because you’re bound to meet awesome people wherever you go!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
