Congratulations to Donald Trump and his supporters for winning the Republican presidential bid. Granted I am not a republican and I am absolutely not a Donald Trump supporter by any means, I do want to say that you won fair and square.
I look back and I still don’t know how some people stayed in the race. There were some like Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, and Jeb Bush who barely made a dent in the republican presidential bid. I honestly have to admit that I even had to google “George Bush’s Brother” because I forgot Jeb Bush’s first name; it just goes to show his level of impact to this election season and his unfortunately uninspiring campaign. Nevertheless, people like these made the crowd of bidders too large which caused for separate debates to be held this election season. This made the debates all the more confusing and not inclusive. There were some that were in one debate but not in the other another day and the debates without Trump made it strange to watch because we all knew that everyone wanted to take a crack at him. My message to this group of people whom I honestly don’t remember the rest of the names of is that: ‘We knew you weren’t gonna make it but you tried and I don’t know whether that’s good or bad.’
I could understand these fellow contenders who were once really high in the polls and could potentially trump Trump: Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz. I would have even hoped that Chris Christie had stayed even longer because of his “no non-sense” attitude and because he was never afraid to call someone out, something which other bidders didn’t know how to even do. The problem with this group is that they didn’t know how to keep their campaign alive, they didn’t know how to keep their foot in the door and push themselves in further. Marco Rubio was able to at one point but when his following started to dwindle, he was just a sitting duck and couldn’t do much to push forward. I want to congratulate this group for making things a bit more interesting but ultimately, perhaps if it had been a one on one race instead of racing against Trump and the rest of the bidders, maybe some of you in this group would have had a bigger chance.
On a final note, I just want to remark something that I found peculiar and that is that Ted Cruz dropped out first after the Indiana results rather than John Kasich. If Ted Cruz didn’t have a chance, then John Kasich wouldn’t have one either by a landslide. We all knew Kasich wasn’t going to make it but he was the last one to drop out. I guess everything is possible but still, who would’ve seen that coming? At least Ted Cruz had a slim chance and didn’t continue the act when his campaign was beyond over. Now Trump can focus on Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton as they battle it out and the investigations continue in full-force about her e-mail scandal.
