It's that time of year again. A new journey is beginning for some students, including myself. I am among those who are preparing for school once more. But this feeling, that we have at this moment, is very different than it was in high school. We are starting out as freshmen again, a feeling we recognize fairly. We are starting a new journey at a new school, a place where we decided to continue our education.
We are about to embark on a journey, an unknown but exciting one. Many of us are afraid of what obstacles will be in the way, the uncertainty of what could happen, and whether we will succeed. But that should not stop us in our tracks. It may seem very frightening, I know. But we should be thrilled to experience new surroundings, new hobbies, and be ready to share new experiences with others. We should be excited, because these next four years will, indeed, go by quickly. And we will find ourselves at the end, thinking where has the time gone.
Before the end is near, we should be able to look back at these years we spent at college and say we have had the time of our lives. That we did not let the fear, the uncertainty, the obstacles stop us or discontinue our way through the journey of college. That we made new friends, found new hobbies, but most of all, found ourselves and who we are through the journey. We wanted to go forward with our education and we cannot be afraid for what the college journey has in store for each and every one of us.
I feel frightened at the moment, I do. But I can't help but feel excited for what I could do at Hanover. We, the incoming freshmen, can become a better individual of the Hanover community. We can become who we want to be. We can try new activities and find new things to enjoy. We can become close to one another as a family even.
I am ready to start again at Hanover. I am ready to take the next step in my education and become a journalist, a script writer like Shakespeare, and an actress maybe. I have such high goals already for the next four years. I am ready to make friends, meet my professors, and meet students who have already began their Hanover Journey. I hope everyone has a safe, great journey at Hanover College.
