Whether you're across seas or serving somewhere in our country, thank you.
I wanted to take a moment and thank all of the brave men, women and service animals who risk their lives every day. The men and women in our military sacrifice so much, more than people realize. They have left their homes, families and everything they've ever known just so we don't have to. We owe them, as citizens, the biggest thank you of all time.
Thank you for giving the ultimate sacrifice for your country. We are safe here because of you. I can't imagine what it would be like to get up and leave the only life I have ever known. To move across the country, train in extreme climates and trust complete strangers takes outstanding courage, so thank you. I can't imagine how emotionally straining being in the military may be. You are all extremely strong individuals, and our country is in a better place because of your hard work and dedication. For those who have significant others, children or other family, they're so proud of you. They may miss you like crazy, but I'm sure they find comfort in knowing they are that much more safer because of you. I don't think people speak about their appreciation enough. Thanking our military should be something we do every single day. Thanking each and every member of our military should be on everyone's to-do list.
Thank you to all of the currently serving, retired or deceased military members. It is important to thank every single person who has served because some may be home with family right now, but it wasn't an easy journey for them to get there. Too many members of the military lose their lives every day, many see things they will never talk about, others suffer from mental illness brought on by war trauma. They seriously sacrifice every part of themselves, so we can go to the mall, go on vacation and attend college, freely.
This time last year, we lost John. He was serving in Afghanistan, doing what he loved. John was one of the most genuine people I have ever had the honor of knowing. At the young age of 22, he left to defend his country. He left everything he knew, but at such a young age, he knew what he wanted to do in his life. He wanted to help people, defend his country, protect his loved ones. He did just that and so much more. Thank you, John. Thank you for giving the ultimate sacrifice. We miss and love you more than you'll ever know.
So please, take a moment and thank our brave, courageous and outstanding military. While you're at home enjoying a relaxing Saturday night, take a second to think about what our military does for us. Because of them, you can sit on your couch and enjoy your glass of wine, your home cooked meal, your warm bed. Take a selfless moment to acknowledge what our military does for us every day.
Thank you again for everything you do. Now, go kick some ass and come home. We miss you!
