I don't know your name, but I wish I did. However, I do I know the name of the person who did this to you. In fact, I'm disgusted and sick of hearing about him. I wish I could hug you and tell you how deeply sorry I am that this happened to you. You don't deserve to be known as a rape victim, no one deserves to be known as a victim in general. However, I want to get to know you and help you, like many good and caring people in this world are trying to reach out for you and are fighting with you, to find your peace.

You are a brave and strong soul. When I was reading the powerful letter that you wrote to your attacker, I broke down in tears. I was heartbroken how someone could be so cruel and do that to someone innocent. I admire how brave and strong you are, willing to retell your story. Not many have the guts to speak up to their attacker. You may not feel like a hero at the moment, but so far you've done so much for many who were once once in the same situation as you. Luckily, in your case you had two witnesses to stop your attacker and because of them your attacker is known to the world as the boy who touched you without your consent. Despite the unfair minimal sentence he received, the world is fighting with you for justice. Despite of the sentence and the media attention that is on him, you're the one that has to wake up everyday as a rape victim.

I can't imagine what you're going through at the moment; however, I hope and pray for you to not sink into darkness for to long. I hope that you find light again in your life. I know it will take time, but so far sharing your story, you are known as a voice for millions of victims with a similar situation as yours. I hope within time you believe in yourself. I hope for you to find balance. I hope for you to find peace. Keep fighting, you're not alone.

I don't know your name, but I wish I did.

Sincerely,

A girl who supports you and believes in you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
