Two years we spent as roommates and two years our friendship grew into something unforgettable. I met my best friend right before we both graduated high school in 2016. We were on a website to find a roommate for college that matched our interests to others interests. We knew we were going to be roommates the moment we messaged each other. I transferred to a different college while she stayed at the one we spent growing together. That didn't stop us from being best friends, but that also didn't stop us from making new friends. I can't physically be there for her in person, but I know you guys will be and I want to share some tips for you guys who are now a part of her life...
First: my best friend is one of the most kind and caring individuals you will ever meet. She will be there for you in a heart beat, and will drop everything she is doing to be that shoulder you need to cry on or the ear you need to listen. Her soul is beautiful and selfless. She is someone you need in your life through the good and the bad.
She has an acquired taste in food. She loves candy corn but not the ones with the chocolate bottoms because she doesn't like chocolate (that rare 1% who doesn't). Pumpkin candy corn is one to remember for her. Sour candy is kind of her thing; sour patch kids, sour watermelons or sour sweettarts are easy go-to's for her. She loves Annie's mac & cheese, so remember to get the purple box one. There's this mac & cheese she likes from Walmart near the baked goods, it comes in a big white container and its brand name is Hormel. Her moms baking/cooking is super good and always something she is in the mood for, especially her mom's homemade cinnamon rolls, cookies and muffins. If she ever shares those with you be thankful because that is a rare act. She loves sushi and a good hibachi restaurant. Chick fil-a is a good quick place she likes to go to and if you are feeling KFC she loves chicken littles. A caramel/french vanilla or just caramel swirl ice coffee from dunks will usually always put her in a good mood. I mentioned before that she doesn't like chocolate but she will eat a reese with her s'more instead of a hershey bar because it has a more peanut butter taste than a chocolate taste. She loves those muffins you can make in a mug in a microwave and you can find them at Walmart in a red box. Cranberry juice is always a good thing to have around or those Starbucks frappuccinos, but make sure they are the coffee or vanilla flavor ones. I could write more about her favorites but during March Mcdonalds has the mint milk shakes, go with her to get one because those are her favorite.
She will be down to go literally anywhere with you. You need to go to Walmart for socks? she'll join you. You need to go to the bank? she'll tag along. You want to go get dunks? she'll definitely be down to go. Most importantly if you just need to go for a drive she will go. Car rides, with some music and a good friend/friends is always enjoyable for her. She will listen to almost any genre of music, except screamo, or opera. Country, modern and throw backs are her favorite. If you play any Kenny Chesney, or or Elvis she will sing along, word by word. Elvis is her favorite, so please play Elvis for her. She even has an Elvis blanket that means a lot to her. Colt 45 is a major throw back you need to remember because she will sing every single word for you and she nails it. Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie is another throw back you need to have on your playlist. She is never usually on aux, so you better be ready to fill in that spot for her. She doesn't like to usually go out and party a lot, the whole dressing up thing is not for her. Instead go do something like bowling or grocery bingo, or the movies. She would even be fine with a inexpensive girls night watching movies and doing a face mask. She loves the Transformers movies, so keep those around. Friends is also her favorite TV show, so you should make sure to check it out to understand her references. She also loves Greys Anatomy. She hates the office, so don't bother trying to get her to watch it. One day she stayed up watching the whole first season of 13 Reasons Why, so just keep in mind that she is capable of doing that. Her favorite animal is a turtle but she likes to reference herself to a panda as her spirit animal. She has a stuffed moose named Moose Goosey that she got from her Mammy and Bumpa's bed and breakfast. She loves that little guy so cherish it like it is yours. There was this little arch at her Mammy and Bumpa's old bed and breakfast that is one of her favorites spots. It is beautiful from pictures. If she tells you about Jasper, remember him because he was HER dog and chocolate labs are her favorite dogs. She will have two one day. She loves to take naps when she can. Sometimes she doesn't go to bed until really late, so naps are needed. She is sometimes a light sleeper so don't be super loud when she is sleeping, but she can also be a heavy sleeper so you literally may not know. She won't tell you that you woke her up though so that's a plus. She's also a prankster, so if you're ever coming around a corner double check to see if she is there because she will try to jump out and scare you. She loves to draw, so ask her about her drawings because trust me they are worth seeing. She also likes to crack up laughing while playing cards against humanists so its easy to tell which is hers. There is never a dull moment with her. She can make you laugh until you're crying and almost peeing yourself.
Most importantly she is the one person who will never abandon you. She will be there if you need to rant or vent, and she will give the best advice she can. She also is someone who will not sugar coat something for you. She is honest and true with everything she says and does. You guys will butt heads but it will mostly end in an agree to disagree. She is that one friend you can trust with anything. She won't tell a soul your secrets. If you need her at 1am she will be there or try to the best way she can. She will make you laugh and smile even when you don't feel like it . She is someone who will split her last $20 with you if it ever came down to it. She has an amazing family who if you ever get the chance to meet please do because they will make you feel like one of them. She is someone you can count on especially when you need some cheering up. It's not every day you get the chance to have someone walk into your life and actually stay, so if she ever comes into your life please keep in mind that she is the best friend you can ever have and I promise you there is no better friend to have than her.
