Dear friend who stood up for me when I couldn’t,
Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. You, unselfishly and righteously stood up for me when I didn’t have the strength to. I did not ask and you did not wait to hear me ask do so before you did it anyways. You protected me in a way no one else would or ever had before, and you did it as easy as one-two-three. You did not just claim to have my back, you stuck to your guns and actually had it and for that, I am more grateful than you will ever understand.
Whether you knew something cut me too deep to respond or I was not even there to hear it, you took on the challenge and defended me. The best part is, you do not even want thanks in return. You did it because it is the person you are and that is all there is to it. The person you are is stronger than you will ever realize and I hope one day to be as strong as that.
You don’t know it, but I am a better person due to knowing you. You teach me every day to not hold back, even if the odds are against me. You keep teaching me that actions speak volumes over words. Most importantly, you have taught me to never put anything over the loyalty for your friends, and I promise you that nothing ever will go above that for me to you. Regardless of how many times I have been let down by people in my past, you singlehandedly restored my confidence in that I will never be left to fight alone. You broke my belief that people will always let you down and you do not even realize it. You did something many people do not have the gull to do and you did it without a second thought. You did not think about what anyone would think, if it was right, or even if you knew all the right words to say; you just went with your gut and said "screw the rest."
Regardless of where this life takes us, I know in my heart of hearts that my love and appreciation for you will never go away. A person like you is one in a million, and I am awestruck that I got lucky enough to win those odds of finding you. Knowing who you are, I know you probably think I am crazy for saying that, but it is the honest truth. Similarly, I know without a doubt that 50 years from now, you will still be as loyal as you are today. Your loyalty is not on the fence, it is either all or nothing. You are either down for someone always or you are not at all, and I know with total certainty that we are the always.
I love you forever and if you have not already gotten it, thank you for making my problems your problems and for never apologizing for doing so.
