Dear Siblings,

I want to take this time to tell you how much I appreciate you. Underneath the bruises and scratches we have given each other, there is so much love for you. I know I may not show it all the time, but I am truly thankful that God has put you under the same roof as me. I am so lucky to have gotten to grow up with you as not only some of my best friends, but also my sister and brother. We might have different personalities and be at different maturity levels, but that's what makes life fun and interesting. I am extremely blessed to have the best shoulders to cry on and the hardest laughs right inside the comfort of my own home.

Siblings are the ones that have seen you at your worst and at your best. I want to thank you for not judging me at my worst, and I want to thank you for supporting me at my best. Through the good and the bad, you are the ones that have stuck with me and have given me the strength to push through every day and help me remember who I am and where I come from. You each bring out something different in me that I would have never known if it wasn't for you. You have taught me so much about myself and have allowed me to show you a side of me that only family would understand.

There is no one else in this world quite like you.

There is no one else I would rather be mistaken for. I can’t help but laugh when I answer the phone and the person on the other end thinks I am you.

There is no one else I would rather brag about. Your accomplishments make me so proud to call you my sibling. You can always count on me to tell people about your new job offer or to update them on your love life even when they don’t ask.

There is no one else I would rather fight with. We call each other mean names for taking each other's clothes without asking or switching the TV channel in the middle of each other’s favorite show, but it’s all meaningless and never lasts that long.

There is no one else I would rather force to ask our parents if we can order food for dinner. On the days mom is mad at me, I make one of you ask her because I know she’ll say yes to you. Just take it as a compliment. I know you want takeout, too.

There is no one else I would rather have steal my seat on the couch. Props to you for noticing that I forgot to call “seat check”. I know I act mad about it, but I really just can’t wait for the time that you make the same mistake so I can get you back.

There is no one else I would rather make “Like” my Instagram pictures. Sometimes the “Likes” don’t rack up like I thought they were going to, but I can always count on you to give me another one.

There is no one else I would rather break out into song with. We have our favorite songs that we like singing together and love recording ourselves to hear how good we actually sound. And opposite to what we always think, it doesn’t sound that good at all.

There is no one else I would rather tell my stories to. Whether they are funny or simply pointless, I know you are truly listening to me because you love hearing about my day. And then once I am done sharing, I know to expect a story from you.

There is no one else in this world as special as you are to me.

Our relationship is so much stronger than just having the same last name. You know the things that will help cheer me up when I’m not having the best day, and you know exactly what will make me mad when I’m having a good day, and you try to stay clear of those things as much as you can. You are constantly showing me love and support and I can always count on you when I am in a time of need. I would not be where I am today without the advice that you have given me and everything we have experienced together that has built us to be who we are.

We are each a piece of a puzzle that every family has. We are a little different from each other, but when we come together, we fit perfectly to become one. Some families have bigger puzzles than others, but each piece of their puzzle comes from the same box and has to rely on each other to become complete, no matter how big or how small the final product is. When pieces are missing from a puzzle, people notice right away. There is nothing else out there that can replace your spot in our family's puzzle, and thats what makes you so special to me. We have completely different lives, but we complete each other’s lives, as well.

I am thankful that you are a piece of our family's puzzle and can’t imagine what it would look like with out you in it.
