An Open Letter to My Step-Family
Todd Enders

To my wonderful step-family:

I hope that after I'm done writing this letter to you, you have a better understanding of how much you mean to me. Growing up, I had no idea that I would be blessed to welcome you all to my family and to be welcomed into your family. It has been quite an adventure and I couldn't be more thankful to call you my family.

First to my new siblings. Mixing two families can be a very difficult thing to do sometimes, especially with grown children. But we did it and with much grace. With the being the oldest of two, I could never imagine what it would be like with not one, not two, but three older sisters. For once, I was soon to be just about the youngest of the family. Some might have thought it would have been a tough adjustment. But no. Actually it was kind of awesome. I had three new sisters to look up to and take guidance from. And there could not have three better role models. It's great because you all do so many different things and there are many different paths to take. It's comforting to know that which path I choose to take, I have you to guide me. I don't know if you realize, but it's been such a cool experience for me to witness you all go your separate ways and explore different things. It's been amazing to have you to look up to. But really, I just want to thank you. Thank you for welcoming us into your home. Thank you for allowing us to become a part of your family. Thank you for sharing Christmas with with us. Thank you for becoming our my sisters. Thank you for taking the over the big sister role.

And now to my new second mom. I can't imagine having three girls of your own, and then to add two to the mix is absolutely ludicrous. You now have five daughters. And if there's anyone that can handle that, it's you. Wow, five daughters and seven total family members. Everything just got a little more fun. But I also want to thank you. Thank you for taking us into your heart and loving us as your own. You are a friend, a guide, and a parent to me. Thank you for taking of us and welcoming us into your home with open arms. I have been blessed with you and your daughters and we have made one huge and indestructible family. Trips and family holidays are made possible with all of your hard work and if you're ever wondering, we are all very appreciative and are thankful for everything.

I am very passionate about our wonderful family and am thankful that we have come together.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
